Mike's Figures for Wings Cockpit
« on: September 10, 2014, 04:49:30 AM »
Hi all,

Fellow Kiwi James Fahey invited me to call by & share some of my art.
Many of you may already be familiar with these I'm not sure.

Below is latest 1/32 Work in Progress for your consideration.
You can find a number of others sculpted by Steve Warrilow & Benoit Cauchies in my Facebook Album here:

Happy to answer any questions you may have though time is precious at moment as busy with work & commissions.

What do you think?

Mike

Can you make him fatter and older and add a big mustache?

That's Funny! In all seriousness the figure looks Awesome! I am sure most will be pleased with the figure just the way it is  8)

Yes of course that was a little joke.  :) I agree, the figure sculpting and painting are brilliant.

Hi Bo
Perhaps next time mate I can make him look a bit more like me without the moustache ;-)

Thank you for posting

Absolutely astonishing way of painting a face. Can you give some advice on how you did that?

Thanks Stefan.
Bit hard to break my face painting down as it progresses over many hours until I'm sort of happy with it.
I'm learning that important part of face is the surrounding colours which help being it out as in this case with the fur edging on his helmet.

I've used acrylics mixed with a satin medium as I've painted.
Brushes are Size 1-2 from Vallejo & Sth Korea.
Paints are Jo Sonja & Vallejo.

Painting sequence - sort of :)
Eyes base V Light Flesh, Iris V Military Green + JS Naples Yellow, Pupil - V Matt Black
Base colour is V Beige Red + V Military Green
Shadows V Calvary Brown
Highlights JS Naples Yellow & V Light Flesh
Cheeks V Vermillion
5 o'clock shadow is JS Paynes Gray

All added with lots of practice ;-)

Does that help?

This was done with acrylics only? Whow! Now I am impressed even more.
