This was done with acrylics only? Whow! Now I am impressed even more.
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Yep I prefer acrylics mostly now though do make use of oils, enamels & lacquers to achieve different effects.
However on this little guy plans are to just use acrylics & compatible mediums.
In fact Jo Sonja are a gouache watercolour rather than acrylic so do have different properties.
Both are so user friendly & lots of flexibility when a range of them are used.

Will have to see how that works out ;-)

Helpful?

Mike

Hi Mike
How much medium do you tend to use with the paint?
Cheers

Depends on surface effect I'm after James.
For this guys helmet I mixed gloss medium with base colour - Games Workshop Scorched Brown so has strong leathery gleam.
For face I dabbed brush into Vallejo Satin Medium from time to time while painting face layers.

Does this help?

Mike, you have a rare skill indeed! Figure painting must be the most difficult modelling skill, but you've nailed it. Normally, figures added to a model aeroplane dio tend to detract from the aeroplane, but yours are outstandingly good.

Thanks Dekenba for positive support.
My aircraft modelling days are long gone, though I still appreciate good models.
Just reckon they need a personal element to make them tell their stories ;)

Stay safe
