My concoction of PC10 for Arthur's mount will be more on the brownish side... why? Words from the great man as quoted from his book, Open Cockpit.

Excellent choice, Bob. Most RFC/RNAS pilot's account of their ships colors specifically state brown or even chocolate. I've personally never seen them referred to as green, but that's not to say they weren't. Okay. I'm stepping down off my soap box now.

I think the Brown is a good choice. I would say that Bud is right to a point...hank Burden of 56 did a sketch of his SE5a during the war and described the uppers as green. Like others here I have been going more brown with my PC 10. There were MANY PAINFUL discussions on the Drome, Lets leave it at that and go forward

Hi Bob,

give me a day or so and I'll put up some model paints useful for the range of PC10/PC12 Methuen values published variously by Ray Rimell, Ian Huntley and Ian Baker that are based on measured samples. Strictly none of these are 'green', rather yellow-olives through yellow-brown olives to brown-olives (i.e. black/white plus a 'yellow' or 'orange'). I've found it best to mix/choose colours in natural daylight as some of these paints can look 'green' under artificial light (including white strip light from bench-top modelling lamps) but correctly 'brown in real daylight. There are some unexpected examples.

The simple answer is Grren plus a touch of red until it reaches a brownish tone you like. In my case it was Gunze RLM 71 and Gunze red. I tend to get too dark with my PC 10, " Dark Chocolate "

I think next time I will add a touch of white or light grey to bring it more to a milk chocolate
