i am doing the same scheme on my wnw oaw and i am just about at the same point in my build. my question. ho fun waere those white strip decals over those louvers, did you have to touch up paint the white?  everything looks really good so far. i am also using the aviattic lozenge. this is my new favorite loz decals.

i like the blue color you came up with. i am never satisfied with paint colors i always mix custom for every build. i mixed a green to match the decals and the blue from like 3 diff colors. i call them jasta 13 green and blue.

Thanks for the update, James.  The Fokker is coming along beautifully. :D
As for decal trimming, I still use a flexible metal straightedge and a very
sharp (be careful!) scalpel, courtesy of my Doctor. ;) I found what works best
for me is very light passes, which minimizes the chance of the blade straying.
She looks very good on the undercarriage, by the way.  Well done, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks guys. For the green and blue, I just used out of the bottle The green isnt quite the same as the decals, but close. The white decals went on okayI used a scalpel to cut by the louvres. After all was dry I used some decals softner to alow them to snuggle better. If I had to do it again I think I'd mask and paint.
Ernie, I use scalpels too. The current ones are from Squadron, but Swan Mortonen <sp> are better I think.

Another micro update. Half the rigging done on the tail. I should have added turnbuckles to the elevator controls I think. Might still happen.

Some more work on the exhaust. Any thoughts?

Used Radubs stencil for the prop and no oil paint. Not sure if I like it or not. Again any thoughts?

I'll keep plucking away and hoping I can do the fiddly stuff. Got the gun troughs painted and they go on next. Must do some more with the rad before I give it a wash. Also have to give the prop boss a wash. Almost to where I have to weather before adding top wing.

James,
Looking really nice! Very clean work and I like the prop, looks like the RB Prop Stencil works quite nicely. You're pretty close to finishing this one, I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.
Cheers,
Lance

I like how the exhaust turned out . You could do a dry brushing of a rust shade to highlight it better . Your prop turned out really cool ! It does have a realistic tone to it and once you give the boss a wash it will all tie in beautifully  :)

Hello James:

Looking good so far.  You had better luck with the prop stencil than I did, plus I lost one of the screws.  I think the concept is nice but; I will leave it at that.  You are doing a fine job on this one and I look forward to the next update.

Best

Well I managed to scre up on the upper wing. Somehow I positioned the one wingtip slightly inboard of where I should and so all the decals are slightly off. Now I have a dark band. Nothing for it but to press ahead. I shouldnt have modeled with my eyes being all blurred except I really wanted to do something other than work this weekend. I'll post pics once I trim it all up. I really love these Aviattic decals, just wish I could have done better.
Anyways I am almost ready to install the Cabanes and then the upper wing. So close to finishing.

Okay I dug out another set of decals. Will strip the top wing and do it again.

This time I'll do it right :).
I'll put a plug in here also if I may. I really like the Aviattic decals. They really do add so much to the model. The BIG bonus though is the customer service. These fellas have earned my loyalty in spades. Way to go guys.

I found a new scalpel blade works well. Trimming before hand is not a strong suite of mine, but will give it a try.

Using a polishing-sponge for trimming your trailing edge works great m8 better then a scalpel just drag the sponge 90 degrees over the edge and presto nice sharp clean edge without damaging the wing!
The leading edge you can cut nice and straight beforehand with a good scalpel i use a round one nr 10 or 15 then you wont get a raised edge on the decal witch you will get with a sharp point, before putting the decal in the water.

Kudos James for taking the longer but better step of re-doing that wing; Your model deserves the very best and this will be in keeping with it's outstanding qualities!
