Airco DH.9 (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:10:54 AM »
Here is my rendition of one from 20 Polish DH.9, which were donated by UK in 1920. They were transported by ship to Gdansk, then moved in crates to the eastern front of Polish-Russian war, where they were assembled, had Polish national markings painted, repaired and attached to two Recco Squadrons. H5721 was in 5th Squadron and was photographed in Tarnopol airfield in early July 1920. The historical documents suggest it was damaged beyond repair but details are missing.
Enjoy!

It has become a true gem. I like the polish markings and the version of course. And your stitching is an excellent match to the kits impression.

I will use your build for future reference.
I still haven't decided which version my first DH9 is going to be. The easy choice is the LVA version, but I would like to make the KLM version. For that one I have to do some research first as they were able to fit in at least 3 passengers. Also the wings were slightly swept to compensate for the weight of the passengers behind the pilot.

regards,
Ivo

A truely stunning model Prze, the Polish markings look excellent on this aeroplane. You have done a superb job with the build and the overall finish is brilliant.

A absolute stunner Prze, gorgeous!  I love the scheme and the Czech markings.
Bessie Braddock: Sir, you are drunk.
Churchill: Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober!

Nancy Astor: Sir, if you were my husband, I would give you poison.
Churchill: If I were your husband I would take it.
