So since I just ordered the Eduard PE set for the Roden Spad, and my WnW Se5a is currently clearing customs, that left me with only one kit to work on, the Nieuport 24.
Having spent countless hours pouring over the instructions for the Hisso, the Roden instructions were a bit of a letdown. Thank you all who have posted build logs on the N 24 for the assistance and save there...
The purpose of this build is to practice some things before I get all fancy with the other 2 kits, first and foremost woodgraining, with a close second rigging with 'buckles and whatnot, with a very close C being working on pre-shading and air brushing. To that end shortcuts are being taken, but not terrible ones, even though some of the paintwork is a bit sloppy...
Enough with the chat, here are some photos:
First my first home made turnbuckle, thanks to Des and Bo.

Second an overall shot of where I am at so far.

Next, my first attempt at wood grain. Forgive the rest of the paint, it needs touching up and I am rushing some.

The prop drying, awaiting some oils.

The engine all shiny.

Lastly, Roden has you bending the seat back around the cushion. I got some hot water, held the seat back in it to soften in, bent it around the cushion, CA glued it and here is what I got:

I figure the water was not hot enough, or it cooled too quickly... Either way I laughed about it.
So as I move forward on the build I will post more. Hints and tips are humbly requested, as this is my first and a half bi-plane (the first being a Roden Dh2 that will be in the "oops" section shortly...)
Thanks all!
