I have a mix of water & "Winsor and Newton Galeria Acrylic Fluid Retarder" at 20:1 which I use to thin the Citadel when both spraying and brushing.

Interestingly the mix also makes Tamiya Acrylics brushable, something I once thought impossible.

Hallo Ken,
First of all my congrats for the Nieuport, it looks splendid.

On the retarder you quote I have a question: I normally use Tamiya acrylics  by brush and sometimes I have problems, what is the effect "Winsor and Newton Galeria Acrylic Fluid Retarder" has on those colors?
You mix 20 parts of Retarder to 1 of color or the other way round?
Thanks for informing
Antonio

Hi Antonio, thanks for your comments.

The retarder is mixed 1 part retarder to 20 parts water, I keep a small bottle of mixed solution.

Previously when I tried brushing the Tamiya Acrylics they would not go on smoothly and would streak, even when mixed with water. However, if I use the retarder mix at a 1:1 ratio to paint then they do apply smoothly in a thin layer. I still prefer Vallejo for brush painting, but it's sometimes useful to be able to brush same paint as I used with Airbrush.
