WNW Fokker DVII fok with lifelike decals
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:17:51 AM »
I'm off again with an OOB quickie for fun. I'm doing the Bavarian option. Not impressed with old prop lozenge. It shattered so I'm using the kit 4 lozenge and will post tint it. My next will use Aviattic lozenge

Nice start, Dave.  Too bad about the lozenge problems, but you are doing a great
job with the WnW version.  I am looking forward to seeing how you tint it.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Dave:

I know what you mean about the W&W lozenge.  I like their stuff, but it is real fragile.  I too have gone back to using the kit decals.  With some weathering, it looks pretty decent.  I have seen the decals, but just haven't seen any that hit my switch.  I will see how your Bavarian turns out as seeing the scheme on a completed kit really sells the decal.  That being written, I will be following your build.

Best

Looking very sharp Dave!  Nice decaling work.  I have this Lifelike sheet, and plan to build the swan D.VII.  How did these decals handle and apply for you?  The final results look excellent.  :D

Cheers,

Bob

It's ruthless efficiency grabbing an hour of planned time after kids bath/ bed mate.

The decals are good. They prefer warm water, bit brittle when cold. Settle well. Very susceptible to microsol. Good, but not quite Pheon. I like the scheme though and would definitely use them again. I have a DV set from them.
The real contrast is the robust abuse- proof WNW lozenge vs the lovely but oh so thin and brittle old propeller set. Never again.
