Thanks folks, you are too kind!  :)

This morning I have been working on the laborious task of preparing the wing struts.  I used clear decal paper painted silver and cut into strips for the reinforcing straps on the struts.  Much easier than painting by hand...!

Beautiful paintwork, Brad.  Good idea for the strut reinforcing strips.
All together a fantastic build.  I look forward to the next updates.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Now the most daunting bit of the build is over - the top wing is on.

I always dread this stage of the build, especially with multi-bay aircraft like the Salmson (that top wing is heavy in 1/48!) as it has the potential to go very bad very fast.  I started by rigging the main wing cellules before I glued the top wing on, and enlargening the strut holes in the upper wing before I glued it on. I started by gluing the cabane struts then worked my way out and had minimal problems.  This kit is well engineered - sigh of relief :)

Really beautiful job. I love the painting and the shading on the upper wing. For the strut straps, you could also use stripes of adhesive aluminum foil.

Inspirational work, Brad!  Thank you for taking point on this one.  With each update, I'm learning more on how to tackle this one myself.  The colors are perfect.  What paints did you use for the 5 color camo?
Cheers,
Bud

Hi Bud - colours were all mixed from Gunze acrylics, roughly as follows:

Underside - 80% H85 Sail Colour, 10% H413 Yellow, 10% H11 White
Beige - 80% H85 Sail Colour, 20% H71 Middle Stone
L/Green - 80% H312 Green FS34227, 10% H73 Dark Green, 10% H85 Sail Colour
D/Green - 100% H73 Dark Green
Brown - 100% H84 Mahogany
Black - 85% Black, 15% H85 Sail Colour

The model is getting pretty close to being done, fingers crossed she'll be cooked tomorrow....  :o

The Salmsom is looking superb Brad, the rigging is excellent. Thank you for the paint mix ratios, this will certainly help a lot of guys.
