@ Lance, thanks for stopping by, yes that is my yard here in Wisconsin.  Snow in the forecast so my next pics may have a wintry landscape.  It was too windy to use the "Red Pony" diorama as the wind would have blown the horses and chickens into the woods.  It's really easy to paint to much over the lozenge and cross.  I had to go over it slightly with a Scotch pad to remove some of it I am happy with the results.
@ Bob's Buckles, that is the kit supplied lozenge.  I oversprayed it with a mist of Testors MM Desert Sand and applied the blue rib tips (talk about tedious).  The tip of my airbrush went south when I 'accidentally' bumped it, so the spray pattern wasn't what I was looking for, but once you start, you have to finish.  I think overall it looks alright.
@ Ernie, WNW offers two Starboard side dragons.  I chose the looking aft.  Have you decided which one you will use?

One area that really vexed me was getting the landing gear aligned correctly so the plane sat level.  I think it took me 5 tries before finally getting it right.

Your Fokker DVII looks excellent and I really like how you got the lozenge pattern to show through the blue top coat.

I know what you mean about this kit in terms of tricky build (especially the cowling panel fit issue) as I had exactly the same problem building mine - I actually found this WNW kit a bit disappointing.

For some reason I thought I had already commented on your build but found I had not! So... Awesome build! Your overpaint of the fuselage is perfect and I love the Yellow nose , blue fuselage, and Lozenge combo!! Having built 1 and 1/2 of these DVIIs I certainly agree that the fit is tricky on those nose panels!

@Dave:  I didn't find the kit so much a disappointment as I did some of the assembly sequences, if that makes sense.  It seems some of their kits really have a great assembly sequence, and others, due to engineering or trying to get a lot of mileage out of a mold, have a less than great assembly sequence.  I think part of it too is letting it sit too long.  Once I got back into it I found it enjoyable, albeit somewhat frustrating.
@ Rick:  I think you started one of these in these markings and that got me going on this one.  I liked the markings and seeing  yours (I think it was yours) progressing inspired me to begin the build.
@ Nigel, I agree, great forum and great motivation.

as yourself.  Just out of curiosity, what paints did you use for the
blue and yellow?

Hello Ernie:

I used the paints as called out in the instructions; so the yellow is pretty much a mix of 10 parts Tamiya XF3  and one part XF6, the blue is a thinned XF8.  They went on real good, I just had to be careful not to overdue the blue over the lozenge.
I don't think I followed the mixture for the yellow quite like the instructions more of a mark one eyeball.  The problem with that is if you want to do some touch up, and who doesn't want to do some touch up?  After 7 months it was difficult to get a match, so I had to SWAG it and lightly airbrush over the areas to be touched up to blend them it.  Haply, it worked!  My problelm with fit issues in the cowling area was not ensuring a proper fit with the radiator.  Had I taken the time to ensure a proper fit, I don't think I would have had the minor problem I had.  I am working on another one and will ensure a proper fit, otherwise it all went together quite well, just need to ensure all the internal pieces are aligned and fit properly as the whole interior framework is dependent on each piece to create the whole.
I almost went with the other dragon, figuring that painting the exact dragon on each side would be easier for the artist rather than painting a mirror image on the right side.

I haven’t got time to build one of my own at the moment, so I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed viewing yours, excellent stuff and I do like this colour scheme.   

Now I do respect any modeller who takes a Scotch pad to his paintwork.  That’s just the sort of high risk, no bull-shit approach that I like.  It either works or just crashes and burns.  Clearly, your persistence has been rewarded with a most hansom Fokker.

Thanks again guys for stopping by and checking out the model.  Scotch makes a yellow pad that is really good for this kind of stuff.  Takes just enough paint off without leaving scratches.  Ya gotta be careful though.

It is a neat scheme, the more I see it the more I like it.  I think if I did it again, I would use the other dragon for the right side.  I don't know why, I just would.  Looking forward to seeing your build log and completed model.  The kit has some challenges, but nothing a little patience can't overcome.
