Hi Paolo,

It's becoming nicer and nicer. And you work so fast! Your details are briljant. Excellent log and pictures too.

Kind regards
Patrick

She's coming together beautifully, Paulo.  I used Tamiya flat aluminum for mine and it allowed the preshading to show through just fine.
Cheers,
Bud

thank you all for the suggestions!

I tried flat and polished aluminium... now I'm going to search some white alu from alclad. rag, when you say that you add grey... wich type (brand, I mean) of grey is?

I must admit that I'm surprised by my speed on this project, but also I have to say that I'm not working, on these days, so plenty of free time (well, almost) and that I skip on some details I don't fully understand, on specific request of the friend to whom it will go at the end..

so, on these conditions, it's easy!

bye bye, p.

I am not a scientific modeler so I keep things simple. If I am using Testors Model Masters Aluminum I add a Model Master grey. This would also go for Floquil Old Silver and a Floquil grey, etc., etc. IHTH,

using alclads, I guess what I can mix with... but maybe the preshading work that I started todat will be enough...?

it's a long story of tape and greys, I just did the low part of the kite, I hope it will work!

I'm not sure what you can mix Alclad colors with (besides other Alclad colors). Whatever you do, DON'T mix the Alclad with any of their sealer products -- the result is not pretty.

I would go with their semi-matte aluminum color for the silver dope areas, maybe add some of the other aluminum colors here and there for interest.

Very nice Paolo!  Bo is right about the Alclads.  The good news is Alclad come in many shades
so you should be able to come up with the "just right" ones.  You are making great progress on the Nieuport.  They are such sweet little aeroplanes and your model is a perfect example, even in it's
as yet unfinished state.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Paolo:

Trying to shade the rib tapes with silvers is a tricky thing and much experimentation.  You are doing a great job on this difficult kit.  I am looking forward to see how you progress.  You may want to try some thinned Tamiya acrylics on a piece of scrap and see how that works out for you.  Lots of good advice here.

Best

If you apply light misty coats and slowly build up the collor you should be ok with just the Alclad shades just dont cover it in one go but mist it on.

The pre shading looks great and I think thr suggestion of misting on the Alclad is a good solution! Should look terrific. The other thing is that you can also get variance by using different clear finishes, ie Semi gloss, matte, and gloss.
