....!  Ian, I love this one!  I'm enamored with the 4 color fuselage and the 5 color wings.  The blue nose and yellow markings really set it off.  Your weathering and shading are fantastic, by the way.
Cheers,
Bud

Ian,  ditto to my Amigo Bud's comments !

Ed

Make that a Trifecta from the 3 Amigos Ian! This is a super build! It was great to watch it all come together.

Thanks Bud,
That is the old Americal Gryphon 4 color lozenge with personal markings from their Jasta 4 sheet.  The only kit markings are the white stencils, which look good for old Roden decals. If I remember right the blue rib tapes are from the Eduard Fok D.VII kit. The secret to doing so many layers of decals is coats of Future between each layer, with a final coat of Future mixed with Tamiya flat base to give everything a scale dull coat.
Dave
Dave, I remember these from the list gallery.  They are gorgeous.  I especially like "Lo".  What lozenge did you use?
Cheers,
Bud

Ian,

Great one, mate - another striking scheme as well.  I agree that your brown glaze looks good.  How did you achieve this look?

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave. The brown glaze was a straightforward mix of Johnsons Klear with a drop of brown acrylic paint (Revell 84).  First of all I gave the lozenge 2 or 3 coats, brushed thinly.  After a few coats a brown tinge appeared.  Then I added the yellow decals and the crosses, and masked up where the fuselage framework should be.  Then to tone down the bright yellow and to accentuate the framework, I painted on a further coat or two of the tinted Klear.  This was hand brushed, which had the further bonus of giving a fabric effect.  This can be seen by enlarging the 4th photo.

Applying the brown tinted Klear was one of those things - it was either going to be very messy or work well - fortunately for me it did work exactly as I wanted...

Dave, I agree with Bud on all counts as I too remember these from your gallery and also feel they are gorgeous! I especially like the Udet bird!

One more won't hurt!
This is my 1:72 MAC Distribution with Roden engine and Spandaus, and scratchbuilt struts. After posting the pics in the GB I realised I'd forgotten the step and hand holds, so they've now been added and it's finally finished properly!

Ian,
Your DVII is beautiful! An extremely nice build of  a difficult kit. The overpaint is awesome!

Very nice! It could have been mistaken for a WNW kit! Lovely and unusual scheme.
