Your Fokker and the Photos are gorgeous! Well Done!!!

PS: With the PC problems I am having it is virtually impossible for me to Post anything but Thumbnails that must be clicked on. I am trying to work out a feasible method to post. Until then I won't add more photos of my DVII.

Two absolutely gorgeous Fokkers, Mark and Petrov!  Mark, your build motivated me to by the Eduard 1/48 OAW kit and the Lifelike Decals sheet for this ship.  I love this scheme and you did a phenomenal job with it.
Petrov, I bought the Roden kit with the intent to biuld "Du Doch Nicht", but the complete lack of photographic references caused me to go with Monnington's bus instead.  Still, you did a truly remarkable job on her.  Great work, guys.
Cheers,
Bud

It is amazing that one can visit the forum often and still find a section you have not noticed...or forgotten! I have done this myself. your Fokker is Beautiful! I have said this before but I will repeat my statement here. There is something about the color yellow and Lozenge that just looks Great! Throw in the blue and cool personal markings and the scheme you have done is very ATTRACTIVE!

Petrov,
A very Lovely work! This aircraft looks great in res/white stripes( how I will always see it), but it also looks cool with black and white. One just needs to toss the dice and go. Your rendition of the aircraft is AWESOME!

Okay, here is another pair of my Aurora Fokker VII's.  One is the Carl Bolle Scheme based on the Squadron In Action Fokker DVII.

(http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad261/ptbarnum101/Marks%20WWI%20Subjects/bolleD-70109.jpg) (http://s942.photobucket.com/user/ptbarnum101/media/Marks%20WWI%20Subjects/bolleD-70109.jpg.html)

And the Seven Swabians using the "Aeroscale" sheet, I think that's what it was.  Just fun builds at least 6 or 7 years ago.

(http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad261/ptbarnum101/Marks%20WWI%20Subjects/FokkerD-Vii_7swabians.jpg) (http://s942.photobucket.com/user/ptbarnum101/media/Marks%20WWI%20Subjects/FokkerD-Vii_7swabians.jpg.html)

Enjoy.

Another of my "back in the day" 1:48 Builds from about 12 years ago. The old Aurora Kit (those were the days!) which I'd dragged around in the stash box for years. Eduard PE cowling panels with the louvers opened up and the extra cooling openings carved in the upper cowlings, Super Scale, I think, lozenge, and my first attempt at a hand carved prop which is pretty rough. I chose the scheme because I liked the contrasts of the stark red and white with lozenge on the bottom wing. I still have the box somewhere, and the Plan Sheet; not even close to the WNW Plan Books of today!

Hi Lance:

You sure did that kit justice.  It just proves that they weren't that bad.  With a little TLC they made up into a decent model.  One of our club members redid the Aurora Albatros two seater, (can't think of the designation) did a magnificent job.  He said the overall shape was pretty good, just the goodies were in need of updating, engine, guns, interior.

Thanks for showing.

Best

Mark

Here is one of the 1/48 scale Roden Fokker D.VII early Fok built, I modified it to represent Hippert's checkerboard D.VII "Mimmi" by drilling out various cooling holes in the cowling and scratchbuilding an oxygen canister as shown in the famous photo.

Thanks for the compliments on my Fokker.  Here is another, the 1/48 scale Eduard "Weekender" kit of Hermann Goring's D.VII F.  I modified the kit to more accurately resemble Goring's aircraft with a cut down left side of the fuselage in front of the cockpit, a handle to help him get in, and small shields on the sides of the guns to keep the empty cases from blowing back into the cockpit.  I also added a flare gun tube and cartridges to the right side of the fuselage.  Whether or not you hate him for his role in the Nazi party, he was still a German ace, blue max winner, and leader of JG1, so he must have been a skillful pilot in WW1.

Thanks Bud, Ed.. I can still see where I could have built this model better, but I was pleased with how the brown glaze on the lozenge worked out.  By default I was able to highlight the fuselage structure and give an impression of fabric and some weathering..

Before joining this forum I was unaware of how popular the DVII was, and there are some excellent examples on here!

Thanks Bud,
That is the old Americal Gryphon 4 color lozenge with personal markings from their Jasta 4 sheet.  The only kit markings are the white stencils, which look good for old Roden decals. If I remember right the blue rib tapes are from the Eduard Fok D.VII kit. The secret to doing so many layers of decals is coats of Future between each layer, with a final coat of Future mixed with Tamiya flat base to give everything a scale dull coat.

Thanks Dave. The brown glaze was a straightforward mix of Johnsons Klear with a drop of brown acrylic paint (Revell 84).  First of all I gave the lozenge 2 or 3 coats, brushed thinly.  After a few coats a brown tinge appeared.  Then I added the yellow decals and the crosses, and masked up where the fuselage framework should be.  Then to tone down the bright yellow and to accentuate the framework, I painted on a further coat or two of the tinted Klear.  This was hand brushed, which had the further bonus of giving a fabric effect.  This can be seen by enlarging the 4th photo.

Applying the brown tinted Klear was one of those things - it was either going to be very messy or work well - fortunately for me it did work exactly as I wanted...

Also my first, attempt, to make a diorama.
It is a 1/48 Eduard, right out the box.
But this is the kit who make my very interesting in aviation of The Great War ............ and in WnW kit's!
And no, it is not a great build, but it is my first after about 25 years and it also make my decision, that all my builds going to be in a diorama.

Very nice DVII! The white scheme is hard to pull off and you have done it well. The Vignette is very well done and sets off the model well.

Very nice diorama, as well! :D

Maybe he's being mistaken with Fat Otto, which in a well known incident took 7 men, one strong woman, and a ladder to pull him out of a pastry shop when a Fokker crashed into it.

True he was not too fat yet, but had rheumatism that made it hard from him to get in and out of the cockpit.  So he had the mechanic cut down the wall around the cockpit and add a special grap handle to make it easier to get in and out of.  So even with his thin body would take the 3 guys with a ladder to get out safely!

I really like the Von Greim scheme, and if I can find the Wingnut decalsheet serials for it I'm tempted to do my 1/32 version like it! (but then with the wing crosses in the right location!)

Yes, there are more accurate DVIIs out there but this was just a fun weekend build. If you haven't read the book, you should. (and shame on you for not....)

Monogram/Aurora DVII done as Stachel's Fokker as described in the book "The Blue Max" by J.D. Hunter.
When I first read the book I thought "I'd love to see a replica of that fly!"...and then realised it might not be practical!! Beautiful work Allan and I'd love to follow your lead one day.
