The lozenge decals look superb Guy, I have looked pretty hard and can't see the error you pointed out. The propeller, wheel and spinner are all excellent and will add to the model beautifully, and your figure painting is beyond words.

Just started rigging.

I don't know if it's me, but when the top wing goes on there's a slight gap between the struts and the top wing at both ends - no problem - just gently squeeze together and glue - sorted. But halfway through rigging, for no apparent reason, the left side just popped apart breaking the strut in 2 places! @*#%*! I've repaired it, but that with all the blobs of superglue stuck to the model - I can see my chance of 'best in show' slowly drifting away..  ;D

Perhaps I should stick to tanks?  :P

Why do I always have at least one major disaster per model... Does everyone have that?

Oh well..

Can't speak for the better modelers here, but yes at least one. Right now I am dealing with having dropped the fairing for the instrument that sticks up through the coaming between the Machine guns on my WNW DVII. I have Literally crawled and searched my entire floor and NO PART! This isn't a tiny part either!

Tell me about it - I found my Fokker propellor just after I finished the replacement and I've already lost the Alby's windscreen somewhere...  ???

I've dismantled my workbench looking for it..

I have at least one supernatural phenomena like disappearance per build and often they never turn up again. That, along with just plain old disasters keeps the project interesting!

There has to be a way to fix this...I'm totally fed up crawling around the
better part of an hour looking for something that should be where
I figured it landed.  No luck as yet.  I love this hobby! ;) ;D
Guy, with your talent, I really don't worry. You will surmount this little
bump in the road.  Keep at it, my friend. :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Thanks Ernie ;)

Yes, when I find a part that's pinged off - it's always about 6 feet from where I was convinced it landed.. ::)

Repaired now.. just a couple of light seams in the strut - once I've slapped some paint on, it isn't going to be as bad as I'd feared..

A very nice build, any potential disasters notwithstanding. If I could get down to 1 disaster per I'd be pretty happy. This is a solid build with lots of nice detail.

Afternoon all,

All done I think  ;)

Plus points on the build are Steven's spoked wheel, Doug's wooden prop, Vladimir's lozenge, HGW seatbelts and of course Uschi's lovely wood decals  :D

I didn't use the resin manifold as I ended up preferring the kit one. The Gaspatch turnbuckles (in conjunction with Bob's of course  ;)) were very good, however, I was a little disappointed with the Gaspatch anemometer - looks good - but it seems to me to be over scale - compared to the photograph of the original - it looks at least 50% too big - and as a result didn't look right on the wing so I left it off.

Losing the windscreen did me a favour as I scratched one with very thin perspex which looks far more to scale against period pictures. The kit one looks like armoured plate glass in comparison (obviously, I found the original windscreen just as I'd fitted the new one..).

I ended up replacing the broken strut in the end as it broke again..  ::) the kit comes with a set of unused D.v struts so I modified one of those - as I've said - I always seem to get a major catastrophe with the top wing at some point!  :o

But, as always with Wingnuts, a hugely enjoyable build - and a much longer one than I usually do, but all the more satisfying as a result..  :D

I'll post up a set of pictures shortly in the completed models section.

Thanks for all your help & encouragement along the way - still undecided on my next build..

Cheers

Guy

Edit.. Forgot to mention the HGW nail heads.. They're over scale - but I think they blend into the model really well - they don't stand out as being wrong and certainly add a lot of detail to the overall look - so I'd definitely recommend them  :)

Guy,
It's been an absolute pleasure following you through this Build. You've put a tremendous amount of work and time into this one, and it shows! Beautiful Sir, just beautiful, and I wish you all the "Best" at Telford. Looking forward to your Completed Model photos, and this Thread will be used in future. You can never have enough Albies! 8)
Cheers,
Lance
