Astonishing work, Guy!  If my first attempt at figure painting turned out so splendidly, I'd be chuffed beyond words.
Cheers,
Bud

Guy wrote:[quoteIt's just that when you see the figures of the experts....][/quote] I've been saying that for years now! You've done a very credible job on the wee man. I don't see any touch-ups, and my thought would be to call him finished. There are plenty more WWI figgys out there for you to work on, and each will get a little better.

Thank you again,

I don't normally like doing bases, but if I've got a figure I'm thinking I ought to..

Can anyone recommend a simple, but effective ready made grass (or otherwise) base?

Thanks

Hello again,

Little more progress to report as I've done the Spandaus - I found these sooo much easier having copied Bo's technique of masking tape to hold the ends in place then gluing with thin CA..

Which has allowed me to do a little more construction whilst waiting for the lozenge..

Beautiful job on the Spandau, Guy!  I can't wait for your lozenge
to get to you.  You are on the road to a marvelous model!
I envy your talent, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Guy:

The figure looks fantastic!  The model he is standing by looks pretty good alright as well.  Looking forward to seeing you progress with this.  Like has been mentioned before, lots of figures to paint and each one will be better.  The one you are working is the best one you have done to date.

Best

Still ticking along..

I'm loving the wooden prop from Doug.. Don't think I can make another kit without one of these again  ::)

And of course, the beautiful spoked wheel speaks for itself  ;D I've opted to go with the rubber wheels this time as I like them so much - they will be weathered with pigments to tone down the 'blackness'..

It doesn't show particularly in this photo, but I've tried to make the chipping to the spinner as subtle as possible..

Thanks for looking

Hello all,

Thanks to Vladimir, I've managed to finally get my sticky mitts on the latest Lozenge set for the Alby..

So hot off the press..

Beautiful lozenge to my eye.. ;)

I feel I'm finally getting on to the home stretch now. Just really major components to go together and rigging.

I've just decided to go to this years Scale Model World at Telford, and I've provisionally entered the Alby, Pfalz and Snipe into the competition, not to really compete, but it will be nice to see them alongside the top models and hopefully get some idea of the standard for future years.. I'm taking a couple of my 1/48th armour too. I'm really looking forward to the whole occasion  :D  I've been saving up my pennies! Does anyone know if Wingnuts are represented there this year? Any chance of the new kits being for sale!?

Anyone else taking models along?

Regards

Guy

Wonderful job on the lozenge, Guy! It really looks splendid. Your choice of the wire wheels
and the propeller will only enhance your modelling skills on the Alby.  Good luck at Telford, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Excellent, Guy!  That Wood & Wire lozenge is fantastic.  I'm using it on my Halberstadts and the D.VII.  Between Aviattic and W&W, we're spoilt for choices.
Cheers,

Thank you..

Yes, the lozenge certainly looks real to me.
The more eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the left upper wing ribs aren't quite aligned with the decal.. I'd just like to point out - that's my error and not the lozenge.. No matter how hard I try - there're always errors at the end of the model! :P
