Eduard Pfalz D.IIIa 8044 1/48 scale
« on: July 31, 2013, 11:30:46 PM »
Finally completed  my first WW1 and first ever Biplane build :) .

This build was initially to be Holtzems mount but the decals were badly deteriorated, therefore following the disintegration of the distinctive fuselage marking decal , the build became one of Jasta 16b's aircraft ,pilot unknown but depicted on the front cover painting ( by Brian Knight) of the windsock datafile  Pfalz D IIIa in company with Holtzem on patrol.

Now for the next one  :)

Man, for a first effort, this is top drawer all the way. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the next one.

Cheers,

Chris

Extraordinary first effort, Gilly!  You're a natural.  Please, stick with it.

I have already said elsewhere, it is a fantastic model of Pfalz D.III. It does look for much bigger scale! Beautiful model of the most beautiful WW1 aircraft.

Thank you all very much indeed for your very kind and positive comments, they are all very much appreciated and certainly make all the effort to produce this build well worth while.

I have built modern  Aircraft  from the Falklands conflict to supplement my Falklands war diecast collection as it weighed heavily to the Fleet Air Arm side so in my cabinet  now sit kit built Etendard, skyhawks, Turbo mentors, Macchi, Pucaras and a repaint and remark of a diecast Canberra to Argentine livery, all in 1/72 scale. I also spent some years building Tamiya AFV's so I have acquired a few basic skills, but nothing can compare to the challenges brought upon by creating one of these lovely aircraft. My first WW1 and Biplane  will now sit in pride of place alongside my diecast WW1 collection, in fact to be honest I have cleared out some diecast and dedicated space to just this and my upcoming builds.

I am now totally hooked on WW1 kit building and am already on with my next project, an Albatros D.III 1/48 by Eduard, but this was purchased built to sit in with my diecast but although extremely well packaged it was totally destroyed during shipping, so I now aim to rebuild , repaint, re rig and remark to represent Joachim Von Bertrab's Black ( or is it purple  ::) ) mount. I hope to start a new thread shortly for this project.

Thank you once again folks.

I particularly like the subtle weathering. It  looks worn but well maintained as a  military aircraft would most likely  be.    :)

Very sharp! Besides the decals, were there any issues with the kit?
