WNW Albatros DV 'Fritz Oppenhorst' Jasta 5
« on: July 24, 2013, 08:02:34 PM »
Ok guys, I've returned, I feel the need to get started modelling again.

A new project to renew the interest, the Roland is placed on the back burner for a while, but it will get finished eventually.

A WNW Albatros DV with the colours of Fritz Oppenhorst who served with Jasta 5 from December 1917 until August 1918, one small question as to whether the Albie would be fitted with a Mercedes DIII or a DIIIa engine, I'm tempted to go with the DIIIa but I'm open to suggestions on this.

The Kit.

The Colour Scheme.

Some Additional Parts.

Cheers.

Pete.

Nice. Wood&Wire upgrades?

Yes, since all the trouble with Tigermodels exhausts and they then finally went out of business, but fortunately Wood and Wire (Old Propeller) do the same exhaust, so hopefully there won't be any trouble getting hold of these.

Cheers

You have chosen a lovely scheme to go with a lovely kit! The aftermarket parts will certainly enhance your model! I am looking forward to your progress!

Good to see you starting another Thread, Pete, and especially on one of my favorite subjects. I just completed an order with Old Propeller/Nordland yesterday and seriously considered the seat and engine bits; I'm looking forward to your comments on them and to following your Build.
Cheers,
Lance

What a stunning scheme you've chosen, Pete!  With all the added goodies, this one will be a real show stopper.
Cheers,
Bud

First update of the build, not much to show, preparing the bulkheads for some paint.

Hi pete,

good start, but I would rather all parts sanded, glued edges for Tamiya tape. Then he started to spray paint.

Cheers,

Vladimir

Hi Vladimir;

Having built several DV's and DVa's, I find it better to paint first, then sand the edges to make sure the bulkheads fit in the slots of the fusilage sides OK as they are a very precise fit.

Cheers

Pete.
