Roden Nieuport 28 1/32nd Scale
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:56:49 PM »
I have begun work on my next build. I will be using parts and pieces of the Part PE detail set. I have assembled the basic cockpit interior and engine, detailing will be done soon. The interior of the fuselage is done in oils, streaked to simulate strips of wood when viewed through the small cockpit opening.

I am having a great deal of trouble posting attachments. I keep getting the file is too large yet the photos are about .42 kbs.

and the final 2. Please Note that the beautiful PE Peach Basket seat is DECIDEDLY TOO SMALL! I will use one of Rons Resin versions....

Why not use photobucket or similiar? You'll have virtually no limitation on file size and the presentation here is much nicer.

Bo,
Excellent suggestion. I do have a photobucket account but as of right now I am also having PC issues. Everytime I make a post here I have to refresh the page, go back and re-post. I also have to do the same with Photobucket. So.... Right now the attachments are more convenient even if it is a PITA

I like the woodgrain on the cockpit walls.
Looking forward to next updates.

Brilliant start, Rick.  The representation of the wood slats looks convincing.  It will be even more so when viewed through that tiny cockpit opening.  The Nie28 is funny like that.  When I built mine in 1/48 scale, I scratched a lot of cockpit components which became forever invisible once she was all closed up.  You did well to replace the seat.  That's pretty much all you'll be able to see when she's done.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks Gregory! I have progressed some with the details and will post pictures after my 3 day off rotation ends. As for the seat, I took the cowards way out and ordered one from Ron  :o

Hello Rick:

Looking good so far.  I concur with Bud's comments about the cockpit opening and viewing the interior.  Not much is visible.  It isn't a bad kit and builds into a pretty neat model.  One of my favorite WWI subjects.  Where are you getting a seat?  Is there a website you could post a link to?
Have you decided on markings for it yet?
Looking forward to your next update.

Best

Thank you Des for your comments! I can only hope your scratch building efforts keep you occupied until my build is done so I wont be too embarrassed if you start your 28  ;)
