I have seen many of the resicast offerings in the flesh on shows in Holland and Belgium.
The quality of these kits is amazing and the owner/maker of resicast is a very helpfull man.
Always ready to answer questions and I even got some spare parts (lost to carpet monster) for free on a show!

looking forward to seen this one being build as it is on my wishlist

Lovely haul Des, even if the Credit Card went into melt down

In the past I have harboured ideas of doing one of those heavy guns as a model engineering project but could never find any drawings - bit late in the day now to take that up so I'll look forwards to your build log on it

When I heard Tommy's War was going to stop making vehicles I decided to get a couple for later on down the road. They arrived today

The Crossley Light Tender was a general purpose truck and mine will be with the RFC while the Thornycraft Type J Lorry mounts a 13 pounder anti aircraft gun.

And I hope I can get into the Thornycraft soon. Just have to clear my bench and actually finish some builds before I start more.

Here you can see my assistant checking out my latest acquisition for my "library". Apart from that briliant cover, it's more or less standard Osprey, including nice profiles and a very nice surprise for myself: In WNW's instructions on the Fokker D.VII (Alb) the pilot of JG27's "Herta" is given as unknown. It seems GvW has discovered the pilot since than, as he gives the name of Leutnant der Reserve Friedrich Noltenius.

Very interesting detail, as it shows (at least to me) that after 100 years there are still things to be discovered.

It's a pity that this book might be the last of Osprey's forays into WW1, though.

Mail lady brought me Chris Maddings from Inside the Armour's newest book. A quick thumb through and I can see a lot of info to read up about scratch building. Also a book I ordered at Christmas has finally made it through the mail system on Richthofen's Circus.

Although the book is mainly armour I am sure it would be of interest to everyone.

A few things have arrived over the last couple of weeks.

Firstly two from New Zealand (pre price increase order).

The Fokker is a new kit for me whilst the Roland is a second one to allow different markings.

Here's something from Russia

They are resin & PE 1/700 scale WWI Royal Navy ships by Combrig who make superb (waterline) kits in this scale. I've not done a ship since schooldays & that was a Tamiya 1/700 waterline Jap WWII battleship.

The pre-Dreadnought & Dreadnought era ships have wonderfully eccentric lines to them & the early ones especially still harked back to the 'more guns the better' principle of Nelsons time - soon replaced by the 'fewer but far larger' armament principle though.

This little vice arrived. It's a watchmakers vice & is de-mountable with a swing of the side lever. The baseplate can be fixed directly on top of a bench or more elegantly recessed flush. The jaw width is 2" (50mm). It's available from several companies specialising in watchmaking equipment & cost £46 although I've seen it for sale for almost double. The quality is excellent & to quote the supplier "imperceptible from that of the Swiss branded product" (which they also sell at a far higher price).

I also obtained a couple of spools of Uni-Caenis 20 denier thread which is supposedly the smallest diameter available (intended for tying the tiniest of fishing flies). It's black & is so thin as to be hardly visible, I got it for rigging the 1/700 scale ships but it may have a use on aircraft - not 1/32 scale wing rigging though as it's far to thin for that.

Excellent choice, I had the HP-CH with the larger cup and slightly less fine nozzle, then bought this one and it`s an outstanding product. Enjoy!
