Gisbod, What paint did you use for the Pfalz? I've been trying to come up with a good Silbergau but haven't had any luck. Is that Misterkit brand?

Stunning work so far.  What's the "medium" you mention that speeds up the drying time for the oils as this is an issue for me too?

Thanks guys  :)

I've definitely picked the right forum.. Everyone is so friendly & helpful. I'm amazed I've only just stumbled across it. I've been looking through the builds and the standards are incredibly high. I read through a couple from the scratchbuilds section and - wow!  :o Ridiculously good.. Just don't know how they do it.

The oil drying medium is 'Winsor & Newton Liquin' - it really does work - makes the drying times a day or two and not weeks!

My finish on the Pfalz was just a mix of a Vallejo grey (can't remember which one I used) and aluminium. I recall the mix was about 70/30 grey to aluminium, but in retrospect I would have made it 50/50 as it just looks grey to be honest - I was really after a more definite silver.. I remember reading an extract from 'Flying Fury' or 'Sagittarius Rising' about a silver Pfalz flashing in the sunlight..

Having said that, I may make the Snipe more grey again, maybe just grey, as Wingnuts say its a light doped finish - possibly silver - which at least gives me some artistic licence..

I'll post a cockpit update shortly.

Little bit more done on the cockpit.. Just needs to be assembled and control wires added.

Guy,
Your cockpit and woodwork are excellent work! I too have this kit in the "to do" lineup, I'll be following your progress closely.
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Graham, but I'm leaning towards a pale grey dope...

The cockpit is finished now - here are a few pics.. The seat belts are the HGW fabric ones - very nice.

Ps I did a close up shot of the instrument panel and realised the gauges are all either upside down or skew whiff!

I'm getting old..  :-\

The interior looks superb Gisbod, very well done. (I don't think anyone will even notice the instrument guages being a bit skew whiff)

Thanks..

Des - your scratch built Voisin & Taube are simply amazing! I'd hate to think how long you must have spent on those..

If you can even see the instruments, let alone the fact they are upside down, youre not getting old!
