Thanks so much, guys!  Sorry to take so long to respond, but things have been a bit hectic.
We're still waiting on a date to close escrow on the new house.  In the meantime, I've packed all of my stash, some of my work bench, compressor and airbrush and my SPAD project.  I've kept these two on the bench just to keep my sanity in the midst of all the chaos.  My lovely bride is very understanding.
I've managed to get quite a bit more done in spite of time constraints.  I wanted to start on the wood grain on the Karaya kit before devoting any real time to the Mirage fuselage since I was concerned about the drying time of the oil paints.  I needn't have worried.  For the past couple weeks it's been windy with highs between 80 and 100 F.  Dry time per set of panels has been 24 hrs or less.

Told ya it was goin' fast.  I also finished the enging for the Mirage kit.  I used the Pavla D.IIIa and converted it to a D.III.

Then did a test fit to see how it looked in the fuselage.  Seems to fit.  The nose cowling is not glued in place yet.

Cheers,
Bud

Thanks, Gregory and Bo.  I've finished decaling the fuselage and have started painting the wings and tail surfaces in preparation for the lozenge.  I'm getting excited about these two.  I'll be using Wood and Wire lozenge and Gaspatch turnbuckles for the first time.  Can't wait.
Cheers,
Bud

Bud, Your mastery of the oil technique for the wood grain is perfect! Lovely work as always. Your weather is the opposite of mine, rainy and slightly chilly, oils need to be dries under a lamp.

My camera had difficulty with the lighting at the Udvar Hazy Center, Bud, but here's some inspiration for your magnificent Halberstadt build:

Wonderful job you've got going on these wicked two-seaters!

Bud,

Your oil painting to represent wood is excellent - the fuselage really does look as though it is made of wood - spot on, mate!

Looking forward to your next installment.

Man oh man, you do have a talent for creating a realistic looking woodgrain effect. Well done!

Thanks so much, guys.  I really appreciate the support you all have provided.
Thank you for the Udvar-Hazy photos, Vickers.  I can't wait to get into the new house so I can unpack my airbrush and get started on that scheme on the second fuselage.
Cheers,
Bud
