I really like your progress on this build mate. What I like even more is the fact that it`s another model in Polish scheme in your collection. I agree wiht Mgunns the sources and photos are scarce therefore it is sometimes better to just do what you think is right than to put the model to a wardrobe due to the lack of convincing information.
Just keep up the good work!
Best regards
Filip

Right Adam, D.VII from photo might be three color with streaky camo.
As you guys suggested not to hold with project as so many questions still remain I am going to do the streaky on wings and a a base will use revell 39.
Meanwhile I have made the prop and Taurus spandaus

So everything was painted with Revell 39 and secured by sidolux, then decided to do some streaky work with Revell 40 at the beginning. With the piece of sponge I achieved the promising effects.
Later on have added some similar colors to gain some life and waited for drying. After then started to implement Techmod decals on wings and no regret to say that they are somewhat overscaled and quite fragile to handle so the shortages had to be covered with paint.

your work looks great so far, i like the way your streak camo effect matches the photo closely. also your prop looks VERY nice. your laminated wood effect is one of the best ive seen. as i read your thread i noticed a couple of small things i feel i should mention. the cockpit area near the pilot was fabric covered over welded metal tubing. so the woodgrain your friend informed you incorrectly. most will not notice this. second i must ask did the polish used the older img 08 spandau gun? the ones taurus produces is a model of the old early war guns used on eindeckers and such. late in the war the dvii was equiped with img 08/15 which has a smaller diameter cooling jacket and the shape of the housing for the gun mechanism is shaped different. i just want to mention this in the interest of letting you know. most people would never notice the difference and will be more occupied with the lovely build and paint work you have done.....scott

I agree with Scott, Krzysiek.  The streaking looks fantastic and matches the photo perfectly.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks guys, Scott your comments are very valuable for me.
Rigth, fabric structure should be implemented in the cockpit area..I already bought some magazine dedicated to D.VII and you 100% correct. Moreover when you have metal tubing woodgrain sound vague...Nevertheless that is the knowledge for my future builds.
Those Taurus Spandau guns  are early as you said, I bought them because it was... cheaper than from other manufacturers  ;D..thought that small differences would be acceptable ;). Pls if you have any other suggestions concerning this D.VII do not hesitate to let me know as I do not know lot about this Fokker version.

i hope i did not offend you. i think your skill shows you are an excellent modeller. i like when someone tells me something i didnt know so i learn. i just read your friend told you about the wood so i wanted to let you know for the future. only someone who has built and studied ww1 aircraft for some time will notice the guns. the maxim lMG 08 gun was used from 1915 to 1916 mostly although some were used by infantry even in ww2 . i thought maybe polish used them to replace the guns on the dvii.this build is coming along very nicely.

Nice work. She's built to a very good standard. The little tweeks mentioned are what this hobby is all about. Learning and implimenting on the next build!
