Multi-Seat 2026 GB Roland C.II 1/48
« on: May 03, 2026, 08:25:46 AM »
Okay , toss my hat in the ring for this one and will try to get it finished for the deadline but I make no quarantines  of such things .
For this GB I will be building Eduards kit of the Roland C.II out of the box . Most of the parts are cleaned up and ready for paint , once I made some progress on this wil post some pic's

Excellent choice Alexis  :)

I'm reminded of a Douglas Adams quote (Hitchhiker's guide etc.) whenever deadlines are mentioned which went something like - "I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by." ;D

Personally I tend to use them as approximate guidelines for my modelling activities since I spend enough time at work meeting deadlines

Hmmmmm , not sure of it be an excellent choice but makes a good starting point for getting back to building a few WW 1 subjects for a bit .

This is wonderful news Alexis: you have been missed from this part of the forum. I agree with Paul: deadlines are things that you wave at as they go by.... And anyway this is supposed to be a hobby and to give us fun - a deadline would spoil that for me so if I keep to it - good, but if not, who cares? I do not!

Good luck with the build and I will be following along.

Stephen.

Welcome back to the WW1 fold (slightly rich coming from me, but my heart's in the right place)! I'm keen to see how this comes together.

I'm reminded of a Douglas Adams quote (Hitchhiker's guide etc.) whenever deadlines are mentioned which went something like - "I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by." ;D
I think people were concerned at my love for this quote during my time as a journalist  ;D

Don't worry if you fail to complete it before the deadline, I've done that loads of times in GB's and I haven't been banned yet.

Work has started on the cockpit parts with everything ready to go after a bit of weathering . I did the wood effect a bit different this time around . Starting with a base coat of Tamiya woodbrown and once this was dried pencil crayons where used then clear coated with tamiya clear yellow with a bit of smoke added . The instrument is a per paint PE part , I don't care for these all that much . So a few layers of tamiya clear yellow/orange was brushed over top . The ammo storage for the drums got a darker wood tone as well as the camera  .

Thanks for the supports guys !  :)

Here the scheme I will be doing ....

You will not that I didn't remove the areas on the bulk heads . Did not want to spend the time cleaning those areas out so I painted them deck tan instead to look like fabric . Didn't spend any time on making the engine look good since more them 3/4 of it won't be seen so it just got the basics .

Very nice start, the interior parts are looking good. I think you are very wise not to go overboard on detail that won't be seen, it's a philosophy I have started to adopt in an effort to get stuff built!

Started at last!  ;)  Very nice. I just wonder if C.IIs interiors were not painted blue-grey. At least I remember so from my WNW build...

Oh please tell me you're building the scaled fish version on the box art.
