Wonderful work, and that hint of adding blue is something I'm putting in my tool box. (I had previously thought of adding grey.) A third possibility, which I believe comes from the first volume of Jasta Colours (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) was that his junior officers painted this on his a/c because of his propensity to "chew on" pilots that had made bone-headed mistakes after a mission.
