A fine choice, sir!

Well, for me, I still need to finish my Airfix MiG-17 (my "mojo" build which has taken way too long... thankfully though it's not too far off)... but once I have done that, group build it shall be! I am thinking perhaps doing either Udet's silver "LO" Albatros DV... or perhaps Guynemer's early SPAD XIII... I have both in 1/72 and 1/48... or maybe go super simple and back to the old school with one of the early Revell or Airfix WW1 kits (paying yet another tribute to a simple time...) still undecided...

Cheers,

BC

Nice bike Bob  8)

I like the choice of the silver Albie Brad.
Not seen as often as his candy striped aeroplane, but very attractive and would look lovely in 48th (What am I saying of course you should build the 72nd version)  ;) Got a real hankering to build another Spad myself, but probably the early SPAD VII, although just read an interesting article about paint mixes for the later French colours which I'd really like a go at as well . . . . so many tempting projects

I am still considering the sequence of kits waiting for my benchtime for the second half of this year. I may come up with Collishaw Tripe from Wingnut Wings, but this will be decided in September. So, for a moment, please consider me as hesitating. I will let you know.  ;)

I decided that I cannot skip this GB. Especially with the WNW Tripe Collishaw brought from NZ last February (thank you, Jamo!).

So I am in.  :)

Well, since my Eduard 1/72nd Nieuport 17 batch-build has degenerated into single builds, I'd like to join in with the one I'm currently working on if that's alright. My plan is to build the mount of Paul Tarascon, Zigomar 4 of N62.

A quick question.

After my Blue Max SPAD VII is finished my original plan was to build the Eduard SPAD XIII as Rickenbacker's mount.

But then I realized I also have his mount in a different scale. For that matter I have three mounts I could do for the "Aces" GB and do my own nostalgia GB as well.

The instructions will have you use the kit plastic as one of the colors called out. I don't know if I have it in me for that. And the triplane I have is Voss's not MvR.

They would be built as Revell intended out of box but not with the hairy string included. If I needed a better build I could do a WnW or something.

So what would you all like to see? Please chime in and vote.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

Allan, I think you ought to build what you want to build. It's your kit, your time, your hobby.

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be IMO, old kits are for the bin/collectors. But like Warren said, you do you! You seem to have fun with old kits....

Hi Allan - another nostalgia trip! How about you do the Dr 1 and Camel as Richthofen and Brown's mounts? Both were Aces, and they would look good together, facing off against each other :)

Hi!

I was thinking that I will skip this one, beacuse I am having quite a busy Autumn ahead. But seeing the great work and projects here under the heading, I am starting to think otherwise. But this time I will make a kit, probably some French ace. I will see what I have in the stash. Plenty of Spads and Nieuports. One that I would like to do especially would be some Morane L as an early mount of Guynemer, Garros, etc. If I only can find some references.

Cheers, Skyhook
