Albatros D.V, R. Flaschar (1/72, Eduard)
« on: April 26, 2025, 04:01:06 AM »
Time for the new project.
Albatros D.V from Jasta 5, 1/72, Eduard kit, Part PE especially for the interior truss, Roden Mercedes engine and probably some scratch.

Scraping of interior of fuselage halves has just begun.

A nice project, I'm looking forwards to see what you do with all that photoetch in this tiny scale..... :)

Slow progress.
Assembly of PE interior truss is tricky. And Eduard plastic is quite hard and not east to remove. But for now - going forward.

Great start to this build Prze. I?ve never had any luck getting the Part PE interior framing to fit into the Roden kits. But I never sanded away the molded details. Looking forward to seeing how all this works out for you.

All the best,
Tim

The Part interior truss can be squeezed into the fuselage only after the sides are substantially thinned, does not matter if it is Roden or Eduard or any other kit. I have done it several times on various kits including Albatros D.II and D.III. But it is my debut with D.V.

So scraping the interior and assembling the truss continues. Scraping will keep my busy for some more time certainly...

Lovely to see that brass-work Prze (shame most of it'll disappear later) ::)

I seem to spend a lot of time sanding and thinning parts and as you mention the Eduard plastic, whilst lovely and sharp, can be hard work. Doesn't look like you've got too far to go now though :D

The engine cowling will be off, cockpit opening is quite large, lots of the interior truss will be seen.

And there is still some thickness to go  ;)

Well done for getting that etch to fit without squashing it!

Impressive work in that scale! The PE would scare me, but you make it look great  ;D

Thank you.

It looks like the thinning reached the goal. The truss sits well inside. And Mercedes, too.

Very impressive as always Prze!

One question; should the upper stringer in the nose be level with (or just below the line of) the plywood panel? It could just be the way that it's dry fitted that makes it stick up a bit proud.

Otherwise, looking forward to yet another master class!

Cheers

Very impressive work, Prze. Your level of patience for a job like that  is very admirable.
