Eduards Hannover CL.IIIa 1/48 scale.....
« on: April 19, 2025, 05:23:40 AM »
A lot of work but I'm pleased with the final build. However there were several times this was going to become a second generation shelf queen.
Most of the angst was self induced as there are several Eduard CL.IIIs out there built right out of the box.

Build log here:   https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=14857.0

Ubiquitous bottom shot.

A great kit with plenty of room for improvement. Sometimes Windsock Datafiles are a curse...

I'm really pleased with how this turned out. In hindsight, I wish I had extended the arrow markings to the correct length, I corrected everything else for krisesake.

And for a bit of fun.....

Thanks all for following along.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

Nicely done!

Well done!
Good references can spoil the fun with a kit!

Great build!  Looks very convincing when photographed in the same pose as the original photos.

Well done Allan, this turned out really well and your modelling along the way was amazing. You've created a jewel out of a basic but worthwhile kit. Well done! I really like the way you handled the blue on the fuselage btw.

Beautifully done Allan. I can really appreciate all the work you?ve put into this project having built up two Airfix kits myself. Those last few photos comparing your build with the original just magnifies your talent!
Excellent job!

All the best,
Tim

Great work Allan  8)

I hadn't really looked at how squat a design it was before. Love the scheme and the overall feel of what you've done

Well done Allan - love the photos of the finished piece. I had to laugh when I saw your term of "second generation shelf queen". Kudos to you for sticking with it and ending up with a really nice result.
Cheers,
Gary

I agree with Gary. Great build and even better with the pictures juxtaposed with the original pics.

Beautiful model of an interesting plane.  Really well done!  I really like the colour scheme.  I like the way you?ve got it in the same position as in the photos as well!

Thanks everyone, especially those that followed along blow by blow and urged me NOT to turn this into a "shelf queen" AGAIN.
A little red Triplane is next, no lozenge, no rib tapes, no research, no cutting, no surgery, just a worn 425/17 as it would have appeared on the morning of April 21, 1918.

Thanks so much again for all the encouragement.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick
