Gassed!
« on: April 04, 2025, 10:56:58 PM »
Here's why I haven't been working on any aircraft for a while, and won't be for a couple of months. I'm working on quite a big diorama using the Tommy's War "Gassed" set which I've had in the stash for a while now. The basic idea is to have a row of gas casualties walking away from the front down a muddy corduroy road. I'm basing the groundwork on photos like this one:

This is the basic idea for the layout of the diorama. I added a couple of additional figures at the front of the row of casualties so that there is a medic leading them:

So far I have painted (but not weathered) the figures:

I've also added the basic groundwork with VMS smart mud, laid the corduroy road and have an idea for how the debris and other bits and bobs will be laid out:

I'm now off to paint all the debris and stuff. Will report back when I have made more progress. Anyone got a colour chart for rats.....?

Beautiful idea, the row of people walking holding the one walking before them is a really moving scene, it is so realistic. Great!

Great work!

This is an old project of mine, but might be helpful for the rats:

Thanks everyone, I didn't want you to get the idea I had given up modelling as there won't be any aircraft builds for a while...... ;D

Thanks Paul, hopefully the rest of it will fulfill its potential. See you Sunday  :)

Thanks for sharing Andreas, that's a very nice vignette. And I recognise those rats ;) You did a nice job on them, I will try to emulate that.

Thanks Gary! I'm busy painting boxes, water cans, rats and more so it will be a while before the next update......

Well, after over three months of work I have finished my Gassed diorama. Many hours and lots of mud!

Now it's back to some aircraft modelling......I feel a Fokker DVII coming on!
