Thanks Nigel,
Lozenge...

I used close colors as the factory would have.

I made a template and cut friskit masks.

I will give myself a break and apply lozenge decals for the upper colors then clean the airbrush and tackle the lozenge on the fuselage.
This is a very tedious painting process, I can see why an all red trip is appealing...

That is looking very promising!
Hawas are rather challenging projects.

Nice progress on the Hannover. Your wings look great!

Lovely work, well worth the effort. But it is a LOT of work. Probably why I will do the plain training machine when I build my WNW kit....

Great job on the upper wing lozenges Alan. I remember painting mine a few years ago and ended up doing it twice  :(

Thanks all, this a tedious build.....
Before I can start painting on the lozenge fuselage, I had to finish any surgery and PE work.

It took me awhile to figure out what was going on with the lifting hand holds.
Eduard has them as just plates.

I then added the rest of the extensive PE they provide.

Eduard would have me apply a circular hatch as on the port side but I needed louvers. Shaped stretched sprue.

Using furnace tape, I created some missing details on the wings and fuselage.

I'm adding a Gas Patch Spandau so I excavated a place for that. I will make ammo chutes.

Sadly, those rocker arms and push-rods are taking a beating. I will have to come up with something.
Now I can finally get to finishing the lozenge decals and airbrushing.

And just when I thought my Hannover building could not get any worse, I found this in the stash while looking for something else....

(heavy sigh.....)

Your mods to the Eduard kit continue to be first rate improvements! That old Airfix kit will be even more challenging, or so I imagine. Too bad those decals look like they are shot. Those spiffy markings would have been cool  8)

Excellent work, your use of stretched sprue for the louvres is superb.

Superb work Allan. I?ve never worked up the nerve to individually spray lozenge cammo. You did a terrific job. The Gaspatch Spandau looks great there in its excavated space.  Looking forward to the fuselage!

All the best,
Tim

Nice work so far Nigel on the details . Haven't built this kit many many moons ago now it was a challenge for me back then . It is when I got into building WW 1 Aircraft . I bought this kit and the SSW D.III . Still have another Hannover in the stash so will be making a few building notes as I follow along .

I was not happy with the way these Vallejo paints brush out so airbrush it is.

I used the 1/48 scale drawings in the Datafile #23 and traced off the side views on tracing paper.

In pencil I roughed in where I thought I wanted the shapes then did an ink tracing of that and made 2-3 copies.

I started with the yellow over all.

Using Friskit material, made for airbrushing, I cut out the numbered colors I needed. If your copy gets too cut up, use another copy. Do not cut on your original.

I'm not going to bother touching up as this will all be covered with a translucent coat of Prussian Blue.

More soon.
