last weekend i paid a visit to the Science museum in London. a you might know they have a Fokker EIII which was captured intact due to a pilot's navigational error.  to my great fortune the museum also has a collection of early aviation engines among which i found a Bentley BR2. the lighting conditions are horrible in the display room i took a couple of detail photographs. i intend to upload the shortly

Great! I'm on the fence about this kit but I 'm sure this will push me off to get one.

Des,

Shall follow with keen interest as I have my eyes on this kit.

Good luck with the build, mate!

Dave
As we say in fencing, what's the point?

I was going to wait a while, have just a few in the stash...........but the early version is playing on my mind. Guess it would be less stress all round if I just ordered one, willpower not being one of my strengths. (and "what if" it's a short run and goes OOP?!) ::)
Cheers,
Lance

You know that you're going to order both.  ;) ;D

Cheers,

Chris

Perfect! I'll order the Early version and assure myself (and inevitably SWBO) that I'm taking a restrained approach by not ordering both! Then later I can, but wait, isn't there a DVIIF in the works? Oh good Gawd, I've hit the wall, too many good things happening to keep up with! I feel like Tiny Tim at Christmas, "God bless us one and all, and particularly Sir Peter"!
Cheers,
Lance ::) ??? ;)

My birthday is coming up and SWMBO asked what I wanted, I told her the Late version of the Snipe.  She laughed me to scorn and then asked what I really wanted!  I then looked at her in my most serious/war face and repeated the request.  I think she got the message.  I shall have to wait and see.

Mark, perhaps what triggered her laughter was the name, "Snipe".  Maybe it brought back memories of the legendary "Snipe Hunts" of our youth. ;)  When I told my wife what I had ordered, it got a giggle.
Cheers,
Bud

I think you are on to something there Bud:  She was incredulous that an airplane had that name.  I told her that the Brits even named a destroyer "The Glow Worm".  That brought more laughter.  I don't think she understands the seriousness of it all.  Oh well, that's the raspberries as they say. ;)

OK guys, what's all this talk about - is it finished yet - geez, I only just took the lid off the box  :) :) :)

I have made a small start, i have painted most of the 'wood' for the cockpit, I used a base coat of Gunze Yellow FS33531, for the darker wood I used burnt umber oil paint and the lighter wood is raw sienna with a bit of yellow ochre added, the timber on the sides of the fuselage is a combination od raw sienna, yellow ochre and a tad of burnt umber, as we all know it takes a while for the oils to dry. The inside of the fuselage was done with Gunze Hemp, the section forward of the timber will be a light grey. I drilled out the back of the seat to give the open weave look, I used a 0.5mm drill bit then finishod off with a broaching tool. The wicker is painted with Gunze middlestone and the cushion and padding is Humbrol Wine Red. I have just started to detail the instrument panel.

Des.

PS. NO, it's not finished yet...........

Your off to a brilliant start, Des.  Your wood tones look just right to me.  I just got mine today, so I'll be using your build as a guide.
Cheers,
Bud
