Dekenba - I have moved the rudder forward a little which closed the gap quite considerably, but I couldn't lower the rudder so it will have to do the way it is.

I did all the wing rigging today, it was pretty straight forward but two bays meant twice the work. I used 0.12mm monofilament and once each line was fitted I painted them with Mr Metal Color Stainless, then buffed them lightly. Undercarriage rigging is next then the tail end rigging.

I don't know what your day job is, Des, but from the looks of the rigging, I'd have to say surgeon!

A question, if you don't mind: do you have a system for where to drill the holes for your eyelets? Is it just as simple as "drill as close to the strut locating hole without encroaching on it"?

Thanks,

Lindsay

Say Des, not that I have any particular reason to ask  ::), but am I correct in believing that I don't see double flying lines bisected by a landing line? You know how it is  . . . just wondering . . .  ;D ;D

Cheers,

Chris

Chris, when the Reds got their mitts on the ship, they considered the extra flying wires redundant and had them removed for use on their farm equipment.
Brilliant work, by the way, Des!

You can ignore that question, Des. I realized I actually had a WnW kit to refer to. Turns out the rigging points are provided! Who'd a thunk. They really did think of everything ...

Lindsay - you are correct, all the rigging holes are pre-drilled, but they do need to be deepened, I use a 0.4mm drill bit and drill about three parts of the way into the wing. My day job is building model aeroplanes  :) :)  (I'm retired)

Chris - no double flying wires on this beast, this makes life a bit easier when rigging.

For those who are interested, the wing rigging took me in total four hours to complete, I still need to do the aileron cables but I always leave those until the final job.

Excellent work as per usual Des. What do you buff the flying wires with after theyre painted?

Steve - Once the paint is dry, it only takes a matter of seconds, I buff the wires with a medium size soft paint brush, I just rub the brush up and down the wire a few times to achieve a nice sheen.

That works for me Bud!

Des,
This looks great. The Russian scheme is quite striking. Yet another WNW temptation... sigh!

Looks great Des! http://

Any chance we can see a close up picture of one of your rigging buckles? I would love to see how the brass tube and nut all came out.

Thanks Bob. I have gone on there but didn't notice this style of buckle being shown in an of the write ups.

Does he now have a write up on the buckle with a nut on top?

Also, would you mind sharing where you sourced the brass nut for your buckles? I have this same kit on order and would like to glean as much wisdom as possible from the master!  ;)

Lovely Des
How is the  under fuselage seam? I always have trouble with these box section seams underneath as sanding pushes them down. I haven't managed a seam free join yet. I am about to start mine as a post war silver scheme from Rowan, so the seams are important, as  the silver will show every blemish.

Any news on Hgw masks yet?
