Egads, what a beautiful job, Nigel... wish you'd been able to do a build log of it; I especially love the effect of translucency on the undersides of the wings. Masterful workmanship!

The translucent CDL effect was built up in layers - CDL first, then the roundels were sprayed on using masks held slightly off the surface. I used coloured inks (Citadel) rather than paint for the roundels to help the translucent feel. Then blended those in with a light layer of CDL. I used a brownish/grey for the spars, then masked off the rib tapes and used the same colour for those. Then a light overspray of CDL and final weathering on top.
It took a bit of practice to get it right and I was not helped by spraying the roundels blue/white/red on my first attempt. While admiring the effect I then realised they should be red/white/blue for the scheme I was doing, so I had to strip the whole wing and start again!
