Exceptional work in such a small scale - very impressive indeed.
Cheers,
Gary

I Must agree with Gary!

Thank you for the kinds words, guys!

Work progresses on the interior. I've built and installed the auxiliary fuel tank and observer's storage box.

I've also installed the ammo drum support panel and begun building the fuel tank and observers seat.

Cheers!

Incredibly delicate work in 1/72 Max. Those added details are seriously impressive!

The latest interior additions continue to impress. This should look incredible once painted!

Thanks a bunch, guys! I appreciate the comments and interest!

I've preceeded to painting, starting with a layer of Mr Surfacer 1500 black:

Next, a good layer of Tamiya XF-64 Red Brown

Topped off by a streaked layer of burnt umber oil paint:

The last two photos are a bit wonky color-wise. IRL, its a bit darker.

Cheers!

This is quite a bit of work, but as others have said, it is or will pay off.

This is the stage of your build I have been waiting on. I Love seeing all of the different painting techniques on the Forum. Your wood looks awesome!

Nice enhancements to the kit.  Woodgrain looks the part also.

Very, This is the first time I've done something so detailed at this scale.

Thanks guys, although the woodgrain was a bit moot.

I forgot to paint the white upper part of the fuselage interior and, once I did, I wasn't happy with the woodgrain. To me it looked a bit too dark (the previous photos make it seem much lighter than it was), so I re-painted the wood parts using XF-59 Desert Yellow as the base. I have repeated the burnt umber oils and have set it aside to dry. I'll add a layer of X-26 clear orange when the oils cure.

Cheers!

Thanks! Speaking of the interior...

I've re-made the control column out of spare bits of photoetch and 0.5mm wire and rod

The fuel tank is sheet styrene with 0.5mm masking tape 0.5mm and 0.8mm rod

The seatbelts are thin (0.5mm and 1mm) strips of masking tape set around rings made of 0.2mm copper wire.

Cheers!

Holy cannoli!  That is a great idea for the seatbelts.  The steering wheel/column is very cool as well.
Nicely done!
