Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right section, but anyway..

Through the wanted pages, some may have realised I’ve been on a mission to get a stash of Wingnuts before they disappear. I’m starting from scratch as all my previous builds are no longer with us. It became a bit of an obsession and I missed out on the Hannants sell off. I guess it’s just my beginning of retirement itch that needed scratching, but I’m calling it done now… the only one I’m missing that I wanted is the Hansa W.29…  :-\

Well, well, what a nice collection.
By the way, you might not know yet, but no one shuts his backdoor at night any more. That’s completely out of fashion…

Got a couple WW kits in the loft including the W29 which appears to be a rare un.  ;) Not sure yet whether to have a go at building or sell it on to someone more interested in the big scale stuff

You could have bought a pretty nice secondhand car for what you spent on those kits...

And yes, I am envious. I only had 1 WNW kit, the 'Hisso'.

Sold it and bought the two Roden Staaken kits.

Now, I wish I hadn't....

Minded people with a genereous pension ..  I get it. Way to break the bank with a expensive taste. And it is not a shame , when you have a mortagage and kids to support.

Hi all,

We all find joy in various facets of the hobby, and there is no problems with sharing that with others.

Heck, I have been doing far more buying than building lately (to the point where I am thinking of referring to myself as a model kit collector, vice a mode kit builder  ;D), but I also get joy from simply staring at all that lovely box art and occasionally fondling the plastic.

Let's not judge each other too harshly for what brings us joy, or how we've come to achieve it. Our forum should be a safe place for us all.

I have a similar stack, only they're all Airfix RE.8s.   

Perhaps not the wisest investment in retrospect...

That's a nice selection, Guy, and well done for managing to amass them at this late stage post production, but I hate to think what you paid for that little lot! Presumably that's the pension gone?

I have a few more but bought every single one during the WNW lifespan and paid ridiculous (low) prices when I think of it now, probably a fraction of your outlay. As an example I decided I would never build the huge ones and sold them. I'd bought the Gotha G. IV for 92GBP and sold it for 600GBP!!! The one I decided to pass on at the time was the Roland D. VIb which I could have had for 49GBP but didn't buy. Now they are fetching five times that, and I dearly want to build one to complement my D.VIa!

(BTW if anybody has a D. VIb and fancies a swap or a sale, please let me know.)

I didn’t overpay that much, nothing like the EBay prices. The most expensive by a long way was the Gotha at £300. Yes, it’s still a big outlay, but it’s my hobby and I’m at the bench most days. The stash should keep me going for about 15 years. I just figured they’re only going to get rarer and more expensive with the passing of time and as people inconveniently keep making the dwindling numbers of kits! I don’t think we’ll see another big set of comparable quality WWI kits (CSM aside) anytime soon…

That's a terrific haul Guy, I've only completed 2 WNW kits but found building them to be little short of a joyous experience. You're going to get a huge amount of enjoyment out of them and I look forward to seeing them on the forum
