Sabrekits Update - 1/72 Avro 504K
« on: March 16, 2023, 10:23:48 AM »
New info from Sabre Kits -

"From our 3D printing - we are preparing for the second half of the year for KP/AZ Avro 504K 1/72, construction CAD Mr. M. Turjak"

Here's some pics - looks like it should be a nice release.

I presume from the description that perhaps this is the master that will be used for moulds by KP or AZ?

Cheers,

BC

It's very disappointing we don't have a "jaw drop" emoji on this board - my jaw's practically on the keyboard after seeing this. What utterly fantastic news and huge for British and Commonwealth modellers. I for one am hoping it is to be a KP/AZ release for cost reasons (thinking of the very pretty Hobartville Hobbies DH.6 for comparison).

Thank you so much for sharing, Brad!!

I was going to ask for news but going by this Scalemates page the Avro will be an AZmodel release after all.

Oh this is very welcome news indeed!  Everything looks so nice, except that engine. I’m thinking it’ll need to be replaced with an Aeroclub aftermarket part.

Looks like a very good replacement to the old Airfix 504K, looking forward to it!

Looks like they will include some decals for the Swedish naval air service - those skis look the part.

I'm sorry, what is that rig on the top wing supposed to be? It looks like half of my air compressor welded to a Lewis, with a fin off the Batmobile thrown in for good measure...

I think it's the tail fin. It just looks like it's attached to the Lewis because of the angle of the pic. If viewed from the side I think it would be in it's correct place.

The ”compressor” is a gravity tank. I suspect they’remplanning to add this version that goes with the skis:
