Hello to all of you on this wonderful forum! My name is Jeff Brown and I live in Annapolis, Maryland USA.
My modelling career ended probably around the same time I took up classical guitar - 1970 or so. I did play around with modelling a bit in the 1980's. I scratch built a Fw61 V1 helicopter in 1:48 but the cat made short work of it not long after it was finished! But I've always been building or working on something in my spare time - goes with being an engineer I guess. Now that I'm retired I have the time to get back into modeling.
I've always been more interested in WWI aircraft. The first model I ever built was the Aurora Nieuport 11 when I was 8 or 9 years old. I went on to build the Fokker Eindecker, Bristol F2b, Fokker DVII and DVIII, Nieuport 28, and others. They were a lot of fun but a far cry from what's available now! So I've been building up a stash of A-model, Super Hobby and Roden kits, and a few (okay, a dozen) WnW kits off of ebay when I could get them for less than twice the original price!
So I'm starting out with the Roden 1:32 Fokker Dr.I like Des suggested. Using the available PE and resin parts and all of the info available here. The cockpit's about halfway there and so far so good!
