The upper wing sits on the struts and is also glued in place.
The bracing of the Albatros - except for the undercarriage - is also already around the corner.
It's always nice to see how the self-made turnbuckles - due to the thin wire used in the brass tube - align themselves in the direction of the tensile force.

The elevator control cables are also already fixed in place.

All control surfaces are deflected according to the stick and rudder bar position.

In retrospect, I'm glad that I spent a lot more time on the model than I had originally planned after picking it up again years later.
However, some cosmetic improvements (also in the cockpit) are still necessary.
But that's at the very end.
Now to build the undercarriage.
This was already finished as a separate component, but the Zentrale Abnahmekommission (ZAK) (or in English Central Acceptance Commission) refused to give me the stamp for the successful load test over 40Kg .......... briefly, I accidentally stepped on it with my foot  ::)

That's all for now.

Stunning work Bertl, this is an absolute gem all round. And I am glad you will overcome the issues with the underside crosses and the clumsy treatment of your undercarriage!

Bertl, you have Superman eyeballs and an incredibly steady hand to pull off the tiny incredible details. This Albatros is really really something.

Hi Nigel,

yes, the problem with the iron crosses incorrectly underlaid in the white rectangle has been repaired.
The undercarriage has also been completely rebuilt.
This built of the Roden Albatros D.I is nearing completion.

Thank you very much Warren.
Well, I'm sure I missed and/or didn't show some interesting details.
But this time I'm quite happy with the result so far.

Now the undercarriage and a few other little things and this Roden Albatros D.I is finished.

Moving on - there is not much left to do on the model.
Now to the undercarriage.
This is the second version, unfortunately there are no photos of the first one - but in retrospect it doesn't matter anyway as I accidentally crushed it  >:(

The rear strut leg was hollowed out with a 0.5mm drill to a depth of 11mm.
A 0.5mm thick brass rod was inserted into this deep hole and bent at the protruding end at the correct angle - strut to fuselage.

A number of smaller indentations can also be seen on the strut shafts - these were drilled with a 0.3mm drill.

Here a strut leg is attached to the model to check the correct alignment.
This alignment was simply done by eye, I didn't measure or anything.
