I also made a small change to the tail-skid.
This was cut out of the fuselage.

The missing metal fitting was supplemented with some Evergreen plastic.
The cast-on rubber cord was also removed.
I only left a small "nose" which will later serve as a stop so that the tail-skid can be glued at the correct height.
This "nose" will later be covered by a thin wire, which represents the rubber cord.

The three tail-skids were primed with Tamiya XF-59 "desert-yellow".

The metal parts on the tail-skid were painted with RLM02.
The wood grain was done with oil paint.
In this case with "burnt sienna".

After that, a small weathering with highly diluted dark brown oil paint broth
BtW:
The previously described "nose" as a stop can be seen very well at the end of the tail-skid.

Since the tail-skid was cut out of the fuselage, a bracket had to be installed to attach the rubber cord.
A thin wire made of brass serves this purpose.
A groove must be milled in the right place on both sides of the fuselage for this purpose.
Goes quite well with the Dremel and a small ball end mill.

The tail-skid in the original was wrapped with canvas, soaked in glue, so that it becomes very stable and can not break.
Here as an example the D.Va from TVAL

I thought I could try this on the model.
I used very thin tissue paper and cut a strip about 1mm wide.
The strip was fixed with wood glue and wrapped around the tailskid.
At the end, the stripe was fixed again with wood glue.
I am not 100% satisfied with the result, but I will leave it that way.
Maybe a rip tape decal would have been a better choice in this case.

That's it for today - thanks for looking.

Very impressive construction work.  But I'm also very impressed by your research on the mechanics of the planes.  What reference material do you use?

Beautiful work(again) I think the tail skid wrap works as it represents clearly that the skid is, in fact, wrapped. Any tighter/smoother and it would just appear painted.

@phil2015
I use all the information material I can get my hands on. Datafiles, Pics on the Internet or my well-filled library.
Also always interesting picture information on the Wingnut and the vintage aviator - Webside.

Here as an example:

@Luftace
Thank you for the kind comments Chad.
I see you are building a super Albatros in 1/48.
Everything is one size smaller and more difficult.
Hats off to this great work.

@Tim Mixon
I saw your excellent work in the "Completed Models" section. Absolute masterpieces.
I would never have the patience and skill to build vacuum models.
This is what I call talent and craftsmanship. Thank you for posting your fine models.

@pepperman42
You're probably right about that Steve, it was looking wrapped and thats OK.
I'm not going to change anything now, but I think you know what it's like when you're not completely happy with your own work.
I never am....

The fuel distributor and switching valve.
I used a 3D printed part from Shapeways this time.
A few matching copper wires represent the fuel lines.
Don't forget the drain line.
At this point, a piece of pipe will also be inserted on the outside of the fuselage later, which is the continuation of the inner drain line.

The grease pump pipeline was represented with a sleeve and two hose clamps.
The sleeve is the insulation of a thin cable which was pushed over the copper wire.
The hose clamps were made from thin wires.

And other fixtures in the cockpit.
The Seatbelts are also already mounted.
The picture shows the Albatros D.V with the open rear panel.

Now the MG traverse is completed.
With quite simple means the mechanical gas actuation for the carburetor is shown.

The copper wire handle and the actuating rod are glued together with super glue.

I used small parts (#33) from a leftover etched parts set to represent the mount.

And here thirty-two times smaller.
