Thanks to everyone  :)

Here`s some more photo`s to my build . I started to add color to the exterior . Yellow is not an easy color to spray . I am using Tamyia Flat Yellow and Lemon Yellow so it wont be mono-toned . I did add some engine detail to the engine compartment wiring ,fuel line and the throttle which will be connected to the engine . The sad part is most wont be seen because of the covers .

More to come soon !

Thanks ,

Willi

Good progress!

Nice to see that you are doing the throttle too. I have seen how the spark advance is connected to the magneto's (although difficult to reproduce, because it is almost hanging in the air, but I am still at a loss how to connect the mixture control. Maybe you have some additional information on that issue?

It isn't a good picture for it, but its the only one I have:

The upper control needs to be connected to the magneto and the lower is the mixture control. I may just leave it hanging there and close it up with a cover. But I was thinking of leaving it open on this side.

Nice yellow wing too. Although it may be a difficult color it looks fine to me.

regards,
Ivo

Hi IvotB,

Very nice work on the engine ! I am only going to hook up the throttle  the rest wont be seen much so I`m not going to do those small fiddly parts .There`s a bar that is 90 degrees to the frame and that `s where the levers are attached  .it`s just to many tiny pieces and I wont get this bird done in time for a contest I will be entering in March . The copper pipe you have hanging on your engine  goes to a container I have no idea what it is . I built it on my engine . I put the stop cocks on the intakes of my engine just like the one in the Swiss Museum . I noticed not all engines are built alike . I have  links in the "ENGINES" on this site .look up Museums that house MercedesDIIIau you will see the part I mean

Thanks, I'll have a look at the links you mention.

Yes, I did see the container at the end of the copper pipe too on some pictures. I don't know what it is either. But it is connected to the two brass extensions of the air pump so I think it is some kind of air pressure cylinder to get a kind of constant air pressure for some reason. Perhaps it is intended to improve the engine performance at higher altitude by aiding the carburator to get a good air / gas mixture into the engine.
I didn't notice the stop cocks before. Are these the 2 brass fittings at the upper horizontal parts of the intake manifold? It's a nice additional detail  :)

regards,
Ivo

I have to stop adding more detail to my model, otherwise it will never get finished  ;)

Coming together nicely - my younger son liked the version you are doing - be interested to see how this looks when complete.

Just be careful when you come to fitting the engine cowling covers - I needed a couple of attempts to get these all to sit right on the model.

The Yellow looks great, Willi.  I love this scheme and the color you've chosen seems just right, to me.
Cheers,
Bud

Thanks ,

The three colors I hate spraying are white ,yellow and RED .Not sure why I picked this scheme ;D.

The two stop cocks on the intake manifold where a lot easier then the six I would have to put on the engine .Since there`s no photo`s of the engine detail for this bird it`s just guessing what it may have looked like .

The engine cover will be set in place with white glue since there`s no stress on them the covers should stay in place .

G'day, Willi, that's really looking good, mate.  I'm not a fan of spraying yellow either, so I feel your pain.

Cheers.

Dal.

Willi,
I must repeat Bo's words, striking! The colours and stark scheme really jump out, this is going to be a very dramatic "impact" kind of model in those colours. I'm looking forward to more progress and photos.
Cheers,
Lance
