Good progress Rick.  Glad to hear you found no fit issues in the fuselage.
Have you decided on a livery yet?

I only mentioned the fit because if I knew what I did differently I could pass it on as a "Tip" for the building of this kit  ::) As for the markings, I am leaning towards Edmond Moulines of SPA 3. I could use the kit Stork marking and would just need the 14 for fuselage and upper wing to be masked and painted.

A little bit of progress. I have painted the "Yellow" finish and the matching color to the metal areas on the SPAD. I also am getting used to a New Airbrush. I purchased an Iwata Dual Action, Gravity Feed gun. I was once a pretty talented painter with single or dual action guns. Those Days seem to have passed me by  ??? I have used a PAASCHE H for about 30 years and find I cant't get as much control with the Iwata as I did with the single action gun. Yeah, I know it is just a matter of practice and learning the needed mixtures  8)

Just back from vacation so I'll need to do some more catching up on all the other great looking builds!

Wasn't the demarcation for paint/linen on the SPAD XIII different from the straight line of the VII?

Thanks for commenting! The answer to the Demarcation line is Yes...and NO! I have looked at numerous photos and there are Many that have the demarcation between the colors as I have presented. ( Especially Early SPAD 3 birds) I have No clue as to when the change came about. A photo of Moulines SPA 3 bird shows it as I have done the line. I have No photo of the #11 bird flown by Heurtaux in SPA3,My other choice, so will go with what I have.

Thanks Amigo! I used Vallejo Iraqi sand for the forward section. The rear was a Tamiya leftover mix from previous builds so no real idea  ::)

Today I started working on adding the basic markings and beginning the weathering processes. Lots more to do/blend together.

Shaping up nicely. I'm with you. I have used an H forever. I added the chromed brass back end, replacing the red plastic one, and it has a nice balance. I was convinced to get a Micron B and have fiddled with it for a few months to ok results but for basic painting I resort to the H. Simple to use and clean. Thinning, air pressure and masking lets me accomplish finer work with only things like Luftwaffe mottling and tight feathered edges calling for the Iwata.

Great, Rick!

If you are having trouble with your airbrush perhaps I could persuade you to come over to the dark side and brush paint .......!?

Absolutely gorgeous Rick! I do love the colors, BUT the change between your pics on the 29th compared to those from the 31st . . . WOW!  What did you do?  What method did you employ to get that variegated/modulated colo/finish?
