2Lt Cameron Gilmour - Information needed
« on: June 27, 2022, 02:12:19 AM »
Not sure if I'm posting this request for information in the right area, but I'm looking for pictures of 2Lt. Cameron Gilmour's aircraft.
He was shot down on Thursday November 9th 1916 by the Red Baron, he was Manfred's 8th victory. Gilmour flew with the RFC 12th Sqn, and the plane he was flying the day he was shot down was a BE2c presentation aircraft: Overseas Club British Empire Day 1916. This is the aircraft I'm trying to locate a photo of on the web and in books with no luck so far. Founds lots of information on Gilmour but no images of his aircraft.

If anyone has a photo in their collection of this BE2c mentioned above and wouldn't mine sharing it, please email or PM me.

Thanks!

Grant

Just a generic photo of a BE2c in the section on MvR's 8th victim in "Under the Guns of the Red Baron" I'm afraid.
Nothing in Ronny Bar's British two-seaters profiles either.

If it's at all helpful Wikipedia suggests the machine's serial was 2506, and that his name was Ian Gilmour Cameron (confirmed by a quick Google although some report "John"). There are also two photos of 2/Lt Cameron on Twitter and a little more info here.
