Hi all,
Sopwith ‘Comic’ night fighter, Serial No.B2402 of No.44 Squadron (HD), operating from Hainault Farm, Essex in 1918. Flown by Captain George Henry Hackwill.
On the night of 28th-29th of January 1918, Capt. Hackwill, flying ‘Comic’ B2402 and with Lt. Charles Chaplin Banks flying B3827, shot down Gotha GV, Serial No.938/16 at Wickford in Essex.

The full build log can be found here:

As usual I've uploaded to my web site a fully detailed build log (in Adobe PDF format) that can be viewed or download. Just click the PDF icon in Gallery 3.

Thanks for everyone's support and comments - much appreciated,

Mike

I like this model very much. Very fine and successful conversion of the notorious WNW kit. Surely a model to be proud of, in all the aspects.

That Comic conversion looks like done from a kit - great job!
I really looking forward now to the new Eduard Comic kit this year, based on their new tooled Camel.

Cheers,
Frank

Outstanding, Mike -

A brilliant conversion and as Frank has said, you would think it totally from a kit.

Beautiful job on this one Mike, and your usual exceptional results. I've got your Build Log book marked as this project is steadily moving up on my list. This one was a particular pleasure to follow, Well Done!
Cheers,
Lance

Mike, as I said at the outset I know precious little about comics beyond Marvel, DC, Star Wars etc  ;) but this is a real gem - a fantastic replica of the original photo, and it looks like it came as a kit rather than a conversion requiring your skilled hand. Bravo!

Very fine and successful conversion of the notorious WNW kit.
Without wanting to derail Mike's thread, but what do you mean? Does the kit have a particular reputation?

Great outcome, as expected by your great build log. Thank you for sharing, it's also an unvaluable guide to the Sopwith Comic expected to be issued in 1/48 later on by Eduard. I no dare such a modification at the moment, but I have a couple of WNW Camels stashed and, who knows, your build might be inspirational in the future.
Ciao

Another of your exceptional builds and all the more interesting as it is a conversion. I do like the figures that you put with your models - they add that extra touch or realism.

Absolutely brilliant work Mike and a real inspiration to others.

I do wish someone would do a 1/32 Comic kit as I'm sure it would be popular- it's my favourite Camel type.

Thanks also for your excellent build log, so valuable to the rest of us.

World class work Mike!

cheers
