Hi Zac!

I'm here.  Just busy.  I am trying to leave this one "out of the box" this time.  I may hit it with the airbrush on a couple of places to touch up, weather and certainly when I make the cowling!

Steady as she goes and thanks for looking...Dan

I am just catching up from posts made while I was on Vacation so I didn't notice an absence  ;D As always your Avro is looking terrific! You have Me wondering if there is a BE12 in 1/32nd scale  :o ( Probably beyond My skill to print, let alone build)

Ahh, Rick.  Not quite a BE12 but...See the photos below!

A tad more finsihed.  Got the rudder and stab attached.  The kit calls for a piece of wire to locate the stab but I must have been slightly off in my building.  It was a mess so I just cut it all off, butt joined and used the stab struts on the underside to hold everything straight and true with great strength!  Just like the real thing.

I'll start the nose tonight...Dan

You being a plant by Big Paper model really is the only logical conclusion.

I think I see a BE in my future.

The darn paper bug has got me but good...that's ok with me!

Here is the start of the cowling and the engine.  Not done yet but at least you can see the way forward.  I'm trying to hide some seams and use the kit engine.  Trouble is, it's quite simplified and some of the location points for the intakes don't make much sense to me.  We'll see what I do next. I'm also going to try and burnish the cowl from the inside while holding the outside against a semi-hard surface.  My hope it that this will crush the layered edges of the butt joined paper and maybe I can even avoid priming, sanding and re-painting.  Forging new ground here so wish me luck!  ;D

Anyway...it's a start!

Cheers,
Dan

I'm curious to see how you make the cowling smoother...at the moment it stands out as "this is a card model!" compared to the finished Fokker Dr.I which screams "you fool, I am styrene, don't doubt me!".

As always you are moving right along on an excellent build. As the others have said, I am looking forward to the finished cowl!

Hello, All...I did fill/paint the Avro cowling and it looks pretty dang nice.  I'll post that soon but...in EVEN BIGGER NEWS...

Not sure if this is where to add things like this, but Luis Igualada has a couple of new designs. Check them out as the two models I've built from him have been just stunning, fun builds!  Those were the Albatros and SPAD.  You Nieuport 23 and 17-philes would love these!

Nieuport 23 and 17!!!

I have no affiliation with Ecardmodels or Luis...I just love his designs and have had a really positive experience with them.  I just ordered the 17 as a download.

Finally did some more work on this beauty.  Life is just too busy!
I made the prop and now it spins really nicely.  I'll add the cowling soon (painted it black already) and then on to the wings.

More sooner than later,
Dan

Inspirational stuff Dan! I showed Dad this kit the other day and he was staggered that such a thing exists. I may have to get started on mine...
