Some fascinating responses to the poll folks and I can assure you the folk at Special Hobby are closely following this thread.

As RAG III correctly says the Hanriot HD.1 in 1/32 scale is the clear front runner at the moment.

I am compiling a list of every suggestion which will be sent to Special Hobby however I simply do not have the time to prepare Top 10 or 20 most wanted lists. If any members would like to volunteer to sort the suggestions into final results times three scales, please let me know. Sorry folks but there's only so many hours in a day but all the requests are there in the thread for those who want to check them.

When the poll is finished I will do MY best to help out Dave. Perhaps others will step up also???

Is there not some way to conduct a poll in the site's software? If there is, please make sure to include a line for people to enter something not listed in the poll.

Well, the following kits are those that I miss most desperately:

  • Halberstadt D.II in 1/32, such an important plane with no kit on the market
  • Pfalz A.I (or A.II) in 1/32, a very important plane of the early mountain-aviation in WWI

If anyone produces one of those kits they will see me eternally thankful  :)

Brilliant!!!

Since I will be trying to tabulate things later is this a vote for these two?  8)

I'd be happy to do a tally at the same time and we can compare numbers?

Is there not some way to conduct a poll in the site's software? If there is, please make sure to include a line for people to enter something not listed in the poll.
I've seen (and used) that on other modelling forums and on Facebook. If the software allows it (Dave W?) once RAGIII and I have tabulated the results we'd be able to offer a list. The only thing is we would need three separate polls for the three key scales - and effectively retread ground we're covering here. I like that idea though.

When you go to the parent board (such as the What's new? board) there is an option to create a NEW POLL to the right of NEW TOPIC.

I have to say that at this point it doesn't make much sense to add a "Poll" using the tool. It will take a bit of counting but on the other hand No One is overly influenced by what choiices are posted and especially those that are "Showing" high numbers. JMHO

I now have an up to date tally in all 3 scales. Later I will get with Zac to compare. I will re emphasize that I didn't count posts that were too generic to tally  ::)
RAGIII

PS: Without giving My numbers here are the top choices to date in all 3 scales: Many others are close to the ones posted so continue to post your favorites, even if not on My List of Leaders!!

1/32nd:
Hanriot HD1
Breguet 14 and Halberstadt DII tied
Alb. DIII OEF
Be 2 series

1/48th:

RE8
Sopwith Pup
Hannover CL IV

1/72nd:

SPAD VII
Morane N, Roland CII, Spwith Pup, tied
Albatros CXII, DH4, Morane P, Salmson 2, Nieuport 28, Fokker DII, Halberstadt CLII, Albatros DIII, Hannover CLII tied

I have done My best to be accurate so I will appreciate comparing to the list that Zac comes up with  8)

Rick and Zac

Many thanks for taking on the poll tallying task. Much appreciated!!

Rick- your tally results conform to what I thought was the trend in the poll.

I am in regular contact with Special Hobby who are regarding the poll very seriously as a market indicator of what modellers want.

Incidentally the same results can be seen by other manufacturers should they wish- Roden and Copper State etc. So regard our poll as valuable market research for all the WW1 model manufacturers.

However a plea to members to 'keep it real' with the new kit wants. The driving factor here is commercially viable subjects. If you ask for 1/32 scale huge multi engine obscure bombers the manufacturers will just shrug and ignore us. A Hanriot is a very viable subject, a weird one-off obscure bomber thing of which only one was ever made is the sort of kit Peter Jackson released toward the end of Wingnuts and we all know how that went.

I can only agree about those Large Obscure aircraft Dave. That being said I have recorded them  ::) In 1/72nd some may even be feasible if not  practical   ::)

I would ask anyone that posted the Generic "Anything" type posts to try to narrow down to real choices that can be easily tallied  ;D
RAGIII

PS: I also combined a couple of the choices like BE types, OEF Albatri and so forth.

2nd - Royal Aircraft Factory RE.8 (4)
3rd - Avro 504k, Caproni Ca3, Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, Hannover CL.III, Hannover CL.II/III and Royal Aircraft Factory FE.8 tied (2)

1/72
1st - Spad VII (4)
2nd - Sopwith Pup and Albatros C.X tied (3)
3rd - AEG C.IV, Albatros C.XII, Albatros D.III, DFW C.V, Fokker D.I/II/III, Hannover CL.II, Morane N, Morane P, Royal Aircraft Factory FE.2 and Salmson 2A2 tied (2)
