Thanks for the heads-up! I'm intrigued by the DH.2 behind in in the third video preview photo, given he has a Redfern replica on museum display and this one looks a bit more authentic in construction...

No spoilers but it's great, and a little unexpectedly bittersweet (I believe it was filmed in 2019):

Bittersweet is right. All I can say is thank you for posting the link and thank you to Peter Jackson for sharing your passion.

Man alive!
What I'd give just to walk around Peter's personal archive. What an incredible record of the Great War.
I also wouldn't mind strapping myself into the Fee for a jolly! What a fun ride that would be  :o

I'm gutted about WNW, but who isn't?
My large stash of 'Nuts' that will bring me hours of pleasure in retirement and so, lessen the PAIN!!

Great video.

Peter, in the unlikely event that your eyes glaze over this post, I salute you!

Cheers,
Bob

An excellent documentary but quite sad it's only being screened now when TVAL  is in hibernation and Wingnuts are gone.

The Hood Aerodrome footage was filmed in April 2019.

Interestingly there was not a mention whatsoever of Gene de Marco, he so prominent in TVAL's early years before his disgrace and fall from favour.

We can only hope the screening and publicity for Wingnuts may spark a move to do something for the model business.

So... back in 2019 there was an almost finished, rotary powered and with authentic structure D.H.2 and no one knew about it?  :-X

Now that PJ has sold Weta Digital to game developer Unity for $2.3 billion, he might possibly have some spare cash to continue with his hobbies. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

No no no no no. There apparently were (are) two. And some people knew, just not any who could say so! I'm not including myself in that, there's little worse in any hobby than "I know something you don't know" - if you know but can't say, then don't!

What did YOU spot? On my first watch I caught:
- the aforementioned DH.2 5964
- Morane N under construction and referenced
- Maurice Farman with the weirdest noseart I’ve ever seen
- Albatros D.V/a
- an original Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter
- Fokker Eindecker getting bagged
- Sopwith Snipe

I know TVAL bought several Fokker airframes from Achim Engels, so neither the E.III or the last (early fuselage with late wings) D.VII were a surprise. They have also built several D.Va's that are held in museums around the world. The RAF museum has one of them, and also a R.E.8 built by TVAL. What caught me by surprise was that (those?) D.H.2, because as far as I know, the only existing one was Fred Murrin's repro powered by a radial (not rotary) engine, also part of Sir PJ's collection and displayed at Omaka.

Thanks for the heads-up. I lingered over the Hanriot and the Razor and wished fervently that they'd made WNW "kitsets" of them rather than some of the esoteric stuff that few non-specialist modellers want.
After all the opprobrium, it was great though to be reminded of what a power for good PJ has been for the WWI enthusiast.

I also didn't count aircraft built for customers in my list above (which seems to have vanished as of November 26?). That's another dozen or more.

Achim has said online the D.VII is the result of wings and fuselages being mixed up. But the two Razors definitely also came from him, likewise I think three Eindeckers I've not seen.

Fred Murrin built the Walt Redfern example at Omaka? I'd not heard that. Or (more likely) I'd forgotten.
