Drastic measures are sometimes the only thing that feels right... I'm sure it'll eventually look great -which reminds me, I still have this kit mostly cleaned up from the sprues ready for detail painting... I love the interiour, too :)

Very nice recovery "Viper". Been meaning to ask, what is your Call Sign; up here in the North we don't get one until hitting the Operational level. My compliments on finding the time to indulge in the Hobby while so busily employed!
Nice work so far on the Camel!
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you! Had a few during my training.... first I was Popo... now I'm Chum (callsign of the newer pilots in the squadron). Should have my final callsign in a few months. Well, final as long as any major transgressions in the air (or the bar) aren't committed!

Wood grain fixed! Primed in black, added MRP Earth Yellow highlights, blended in Tamiya matt brown, and finally a thinned raw umber oil wash for wood graining. Sealed in with MRP semi-gloss.

The rework of the wood is better than the decals, IMHO!  Well Done 8)

Really nice work on the woodgrain!  Better than the decals in my mind.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Really nicely done on the Wood effect!  Just how I would imagine it to be in real life.

Cheers,

Great progress. And fine save, which I will also call improvement  - I do not like wood decals at all, painted is much better.

The wood effect looks excellent, very convincing and definitely a technique to be tried out on my own builds.

Cheers,
Mark

Work on the camel has continued, albeit slowly. Decals gave me some fuss, especially the lower wing roundels where no amount of micro sol seemed to want to prevent them from bubbling and settling. Took some patience, but it is fixed (mostly ha!). Lightly sprayed clear smoke over the rib tapes to bring out some detail. Currently dry fitting the struts before doing some light oil paint rendering on the fuselage and wings to give the bird some weathering. Hopefully will have it completely done, rigging and all, sometime in January. Cheers!
