Definitely a good step forward with the lozenge and Lo markings. It was interesting to learn that the Lo was only on one side of the fuselage when publicity photos were taken.

There are No Known photos that show the Lo emblem applied to the left fuselage. IIRC, Udet was wounded the following day flying his DVII. He later returned to the Jasta but too late to do any more combat flying. It is therefore doubtful that the LO! was ever added to the left....But who knows for sure  ???

Awesome!
Great progress now in this project.
Do you plan to add rib tapes? Ok ok, this may slow down your progress ....

Cheers,
Frank

Great progress here, Rick -

A model always seems to come more to life once you start to get the decals on.

Looking good so far Rick:

Just to be different I would put the "LO" on both sides, but that's me.  It probably wore them at one time.  Looking forward to the final "Reveal".

The "Funny" thing is that by Not Putting on the LO on both sides I am going against the Norm. Most Modelers apply it to both sides in spite of the photographic evidence  8)

Before I progress further I have two questions:
1. I see some builds that used edging on the leading and trailing edge, and others that have not. Is there a consensus?
2. The upper wing fit to the struts: I have seen Various differing solutions from No mods to shortening the rear of the interplane strut, thru Shortening the rear cabane strut. Again, any consensus?

Thanks for all advice,

Hi Rick ,

I didn't add taping the edges of the main wings . After studying photo's it is really hard to tell , but I can't see that join not being protected . Whether they should be coloured is another question as well . Some folks have used blue tapes or a linen tape for this and I don't think that is over accurate . Lozenge tapes make more sense to me and is likely what they used . In the end Rick no one really knows for as we know a lot of info was lost of the years man has been at war and lost to time . Also taken into account that this is a late model D.III , early version could have had coloured tapes .

The cab struts are the right length , inter struts need to be trimmed . The front strut needs more shortening then it's rear counterpart . Can't recall , but trim to fit works  ;)

The lozenge looks real good. Applying the ribtapes isn't an easy job but you already know that I presume.  Take your time.

Thanks Alexis. I will continue to study the other build logs before I attempt to attach the wing.
