Nice progress, Rick.  That red color will make for an interesting color scheme.

Awesome Rick ! Must have taken a while painting the red with " One hair stick "  ;) Also looks like you have the wing root well at hand , looks good Rick .

Alexis

Thanks Alexis  ;D The wing root seems to be under control. I will see when I begin the painting stage!

With the fuselage buttoned up it seems there is a lot see of the beautiful interior. Nice work.

Thanks. More is visible than in some aircraft  8)

That's gone together very well Rick, it's always exciting when the first splash Yeah, I always hate the stage of the build before paint goes on. ( Filling, Sanding, etc. )

Certainly looks good Rick. I agree with Richie that starting the painting on a model is always a positive step.

Sorry Rick, forgot the Post button yesterday again after Preview the answer ::)

That will be a nice little Siemens-Schuckert! Very nice progress. I like the idea to paint already in this state the area blow the MGs. This makes the later masking easier. As I have used those barrels and jackets from Master I prepared only the mounting and added the front part of the MGs after fuselage paint job.

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Frank. I tend to paint that area on Most of My builds for that very reason. I am using the Spandaus from an old scrapped kit so they were pretty much already assembled. Just need to straighten out a couple of kinks  8)

My decal order has arrived just in time. I need to touch up the white base for the lozenge as it lifted in a couple of spots then on to applying lozenge! I also painted the remainder of the fuselage. One coat hand brushed then another airbrushed. To me the original looks rough and hastily painted. ( It is also covered with oil on the forward fuselage  :o

Coming up great Rick, those PE cooling vents look really good, must have been fun getting that large piece to conform to the fuselage without affecting them.
Cheers,
Dave.

Indeed, the cowling looks great, like the rest of the plane.
I am  curious about the decals will look.

Thanks Dave. I wish I could say the panel went on with no damage to those vents  ::) I was able to "Mostly" straighten them after  assembly  8)

Those vents do look convincing Rick, and at least they are on the underside where any irregularities will not be obvious. The "rough" coloration on the original was probably rough because it was applied in a hurry by a ground-crewman in a hurry who had been allocated the job and wanted to finish it quickly so that he could have a beer and go to bed! I sometimes think that we modellers forget how rough and ready some aircraft markings were: a close study of photographs sometimes reveals that finishes were a bit "rough" if they had been applied in the field. For me at least, "rough" means realistic, but I am aware that (as usual) I am in a minority!
