Amodel 1:72 Nieuport IV
« on: December 18, 2012, 06:57:11 AM »
I've finally completed my Nieuport IV with PART PE and a lot of modifications. The basic kit needed a lot of improvements including lengthening the fuselage by 7mm, thinning the wings and scratchbuilding the tail surfaces but the end result is worth the effort. I think the PE rigging points are a little oversized and the wheels a little small, but certainly better than what came with the kit, and with the fuselage lengthened the PE interior fitted nicely!

I hope you like her, Happy Christmas to all!

Ian

Congratulations, Ian.  She's stunning.  I love the weathering.  Brilliant job all around.
Cheers,

Great weathering! Always was wondering how those brave pilots have operated those eindeckers..what if some rigging broken in the action?? the possibility of smashing the face was really high:( Personally did not want to have such a rigging parasol over my head.

Ian,
Great looking model and an unusual subject. I really like the overall effect of your CDL with the shading; subtle and very effective, well done and all the Best of the Season!
Cheers,
Lance :)

One of the best Nieuport-4  in the 72nd scale, I have ever seen! All very neat and reliable.
For one thing, at Nieuport Nesterov no wing ribbons. But without them, I agree that the model looks bored))
When I did the same, then fought the urge to stick the cockades on the wings))

All of that in 1/72nd scale to boot.  Very nice model.  As has been mentioned but I will echo the sentiment:  nice CDL and weathering.  All around a very outstanding model.

Best wishes to you and yours for Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks to all for the positive feedback! This was my first attempt at any kind of weathering and I wasn't sure if it looked quite right.... The kit itself is pretty basic and needs a lot of work to get it close to what it should be, but as I stated, I think it was worth the effort, and I enjoy taking these basic kits and improving them. (I also have 6 Merlin kits in the stash......   :o ??? )

ps OM - any updates on that lovely RE8 build?
