RAF FE.2b - Baroda 15 (1/32, Wingnut Wings)
« on: October 28, 2020, 06:33:10 AM »
After 9 years since I built the late Fee, I am back to this amazing model of the amazing aircraft. This time I plan to build the earliest possible version, with 120hp engine, two-bladed propeller, front wheel and balcony gun mount.

I have started with the nacelle. First I cut the pilot rear plate in two and glued the halves to the nacelle halves, thus will be able to fill efficiently the seams along the cockpit rim before assembly. The treatment of the vertical joint will be much easier, feasible after the interior is assembled and painted.

Since it is the early version with pilot lockers, without the aux tank, I have also removed the fuel lines, not only from the pilot front panel but also from the truss sides. Besides this, 50+ eyelets for the interior righing have been added.

Lovely to see another Fee being built. There is something about this aircraft which makes it interesting - even though aesthetically it left quite a lot to be desired.

Thank you everyone.

More progress on the innards. Two turnbuckles in the front bays added, two more to come. Also the missing control levers and cables for the throttle and spark advance added. Basically ready for the assembly.

Great start Prze - I really like the way you have figured out how to tackle that impossible seam in the cockpit. That's great advice for when I start my late Fe2b. I really like your woodgrain on everything, and the instrument panel is spectacular.
Cheers,
Gary
